We need to institute a 5 to 7 day limit on the first rounders asap.

I will support a limit on future 1st round picks within this year's IBC draft consistent with whatever precedent Bren sets. Right now it is 5 days and 6 hours. Every IBC GM deserves the right to have as much time as the GM who used the most time making his pick.
I don't believe most will take their full allotment of time - and I guarantee I won't - but they should not be treated differently because of when they are drafting.

I think we need to be reasonable and just say five days. Bren will take twelve days if he thinks that is what it will take to get his point across. Let's set it at five days and give Bren two more days to make his pick from whenever we announce it.

No, I Would be fine with 3 days, possibly even two. Starting january 4th. nobody should be on any kind of clock on Christmas or for New years.

What pray tell are you doing now besides posting about how wrong everybody is when you could be reading up those report cards?

FYI, I'm gonna go drop a deuce... but I'm gonna think about my pick while I do it.

Brett - I did not realize we were done discussing this issue: But based on the following you have apparently cut this discussion off:
Well Nils, I have to agree with you now. Based on our discussions previously in exco I had the impression that the announcement that was made was going to be followed with another accompanying move for a limit, but only one other member, JP, supported that. As is, we have basically half a rule and that rule only allows for greater problems than we already had. All I can do is apologize for misinterpreting the intentions of the rest of the exco and for my role in this stupid conclusion. Shawn is apparently gone indefinitely now with no contact (really wish I'd known that was going to happen a day or so ago), so it's going to be pretty much impossible to do anything productive in exco for a few weeks. Sorry guys, I'm embarrassed for the exco's response to the childish drafting antics. Wish I could do something, but apparently I can't.
I am really surprised at your behavior. A tad premature in this case I believe - but it is apparent that it really doesn't matter what I believe.

no, but with Shawn out of the mix we'd need Bren dog on board.

Jim, the only person, not just in exco but in the whole league who has supported my suggestion of some sort of a limit was JP. You didn't support it here, and with Shawn gone now, I don't know what to do but throw my hands up. I'm really disappointed and frustrated. I thought that we had this under control and were working on a rational conclusion, but then got very limited support (which is fine if there are better alternatives) and then basically a bomb dropped when I find out Shawn is gone for weeks.

I like the 'childish drafting antics' line. Real nice.
We have contingencies for when ExCo members are away. I have no problem supporting a 2-5 day limit once we reach January 4th. We set january 4th as the start of the draft because it means no one has to worry about drafting during the holidays if they didn't want to or were busy (Christmas, hanukkah, new years or Kwanzaa for Aaron, I know he likes to celebrate that one with a mock lynching) and January 4th seemed to be a reasonable distance from the conclusion of those holidays. I'd even consider compromising up to January 2d, but I won't vote for something starting before or on New Years day.

One other thing. Correct me if I'm misinterpreting, but I believe Jim's primary point is that you shouldn't be making posts saying "I wanted to do this, only JP supported me but now it's not going to happen." I don't like the recent rule change at all, but you don't hear me kvetching about it to the league as a whole. That's stuff that we (including myself) have done in the past and it isn't good for the ExCo. It's often not an easy line to see, what should and shouldn't be discussed outside ExCo, but generally anything complaining about the process or showing division within the ExCo is a No-No.

I'm checking in at a minimum bi-daily guys, I'm not gone completely. And I'll be back full time Sunday.
