I was just bemoaning the Haren trade with JP and it got me thinking about the sad state of Bay Area sports, and then it got me onto the Giants lineup, which next year (according to Bochy) is going to look something like this.
LF - Dave Roberts
3B - Rich Aurilia/Kevin Frandsen
RF - Randy Winn
C - Bengie Molina
CF - Aaron Rowand
2B - Ray Durham
1B - Dan Ortmeier
SS - Omar Vizquel
Remember that this is going to be close to a 100 million dollar payroll, and they are still paying Cain and Lincecum near minimum salaries, and this is supposed to be a rebuilding year. I'd say Winn, Molina and Rowand are the only 3 in this lineup who would start anywhere else. This could be the worst lineup ever by a team with a reasonable payroll (teams like the Marlins who only pay 25 million for their entire team do not count). Can anyone top this for futility? They might be the first team in a century to have no one reach 20 home runs.
