According to MLB Radio, the DÃBacks will soon announce that they have traded OF Carlos Quentin to the White Sox for 20ñyear-old 1B Chris Carter.

And Dukes has been traded to Washington for a player to be named. With Dukes, Pena, Milledge, and Kearns in their OF, I'm guessing Dukes gets the shaft for playing time. Though, none of them will be above losing playing time if they slump.

Appears that LHP
Glenn Gibson is that PTBNL. Nice trade for the Rays ...
The following was in the Rays press release:
"We have been committed to providing Elijah the support needed to get his personal and professional life back on track," said Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman. "He has made progress, and a logical next step is a change of cities and a fresh start for him and his family."

Seems like a wordy but nice way to say
'We finally got rid of this wacko!'

If Elijah was bad news in Tampa (I know he has childhood friends there), DC won't be much better. There's lots of opportunities for trouble there too.
He'd be better off in Canada, where he can't get into anything fun.

Or what you're saying is, Dukes needs to be away from cities with large black populations where he won't fall into the wrong crowd

He can fall into the wrong crowd anywhere. I was merely being coy by thinking of the most boring place with a baseball franchise.
Curious observation though.

Milwaukee is much more boring than Canada, I've heard plenty of great Canada party stories.

Barry Bonds ((SF)): Are the A's still interested in me? Is anyone else?
Will Carroll: I think so. No, not really. The only other team I heard with even a modicum of interest was the Cardinals and that was a week ago.

If the A's have assurances that he won't go to jail before the season ends they'll sign him, and probably for less than they paid Piazza last year.
