The IBC Pirates are now even less likely to deal the future star after he's been dealt to the Nationals with nobody blocking him now.
SNY is reporting that the Mets have acquired Brian Schneider and Ryan Church from the Nationals for Lastings Milledge.

Milledge's value is low. The Mets have been trying to move him since last offseason.

If Church is a Met by April, I'd be extremely surprised. I have a sneaky suspicion he'll be in Oakland before long.

According to most of what I've heard, Billy Beane sorrowed on Milledge.

id never consider a 4th OF or platoon player in Church for any SP in Oakland

As a huge Mets fan, I'm really not sure what to make of this deal really. I do think Church is better than most people give him credit for, and I think Millledge is overhyped. I just can't imagine that if Milledge would have been able to used to land a SP, then he would have been moved in that direction. If Milledge is the player everyone thinks he is, why haven't the other 28 teams in the league stepped up with anything better than what the Nationals offered?? I just think Minaya has some more tricks up his sleeve. I hope so at least...

Mets assistant GM John Ricco said on MLB - XM last night that this deal was in place since July, but the Mets wouldn't commit to it. So, if after 5 months, this is what Milledge was worth, I'd have to think that they might be able to move Church with more ease than Milledge which is ridiculous. It's not like Milledge is Elijah Dukes.
