All Time Seasonal Strikeout Leaders in the IBC

Post by Padres »

Young Bobby Bradley played 1B for the White Sox this season and finished the season with 33 Home Runs and 82 RBIs hitting .202/.272./.431 in 158 games. He also struck out 250 times in 568 ABs. I was curious whether this was a new IBC record ... Turns out it wasn't even close ...

In 2015 Joey Gallo, playing for the Indians, struck out 253 times in 517 ABs which he accomplished in a mere 138 games. He did hit 42 Home Runs and had 84 RBIs to go along with .197/.276/.470 batting line.

In 2013 Brett Jackson, playing for the Angels, struck out 255 times in 630 ABs. He played all 162 games hitting .235/.298/.417 with 24 Home Runs and 77 RBIs.

Back in 2011 Mark Reynolds played all 162 games for the Dodgers striking out 257 times in 590 ABs. He hit 45 Home Runs and had 108 RBIs to go along with a .231/.327/.505 triple slash line.

A year later, 2012, Tyler Flowers played 162 games for the Giants. Perhaps fatigue set in on the Catcher as he struck out 267 times in 607 ABs hitting only 17 HRs and getting 53 RBIs out of his .197/.270/.313 season.

And the all time leader is the Indians Joey Gallo who struck out 301 times in 603 ABs in 2014. He did hit 30 Home Runs and had 87 RBIs in 161 games finishing with a .202/.279/.400 batting line.

In comparison, Albert Pujols didn't reach 300 strike outs until his 5TH!!! season in the bigs

I tried so hard for Brett Jackson to get that record, but seeing what Gallo did in 2014, I don't think that one will ever come close to being broken.
