Fail.

2014/2015 Phillies were probably the best teams I have put together and ended with two early playoff exits.

2016 squad

C - Iannetta/Navarro - I clearly need an upgrade here. Both are poor defensively and neither should get much of an offensive projection. Looking to add a defensive minded catcher on the cheap.

1B - Freddie Freeman - set here

2B - Ian Kinsler - gave up yet another 1st round draft pick, and he was really struggling with an OPS hovering around .700 when I got him. Really turned it on afterward and ended .296/.342/428. Set here

SS - Jed Lowrie - I have been running Jed out here for a few years now and this year should probably be the last. He is just not good at SS but he's an excellent bench/utility type for me. I will be looking to get a defensive minded SS here somehow.

3B - Josh Donaldson fucking rules

LF - Jacoby Ellsbury - was tearing it up to start the year, got injured, came back and wasn't the same. His career numbers should salvage his sim next year, and hopefully a full offseason gets him healthy and ready to go. That said, I want more power in my lineup next year so if anyone is looking for a CFer hit me up.

CF - Andrew McCutchen - nothing to see here

RF - Chris Coghlan/Jayson Werth/Steve Pearce - this platoon will be fine. Coghlan tore up RHP and the sim seems to really like Steve Pearce despite a bad season. Werth was flat out terrible this year, but I'd imagine he will get a useable projection.

Rotation

Max Scherzer - he good

Jordan Zimmermann - will be a nice #2 once again

Jeff Samardzija - what a weird year. Sometimes looked brilliant, sometimes couldn't get a guy out. Ended with 4.96 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. K's down but he's not walking many guys. Underlying numbers tell me he will be fine. Hopefully he signs with a team that can field the ball and has a larger OF. fine as my #3

Erasmo Ramirez - always a guy I kept my eye on, I grabbed him up after a few good TB starts. Finished with 3.76 FIP, 2.4 WAR, and good ground ball rate. Will be strong #4

Matt Shoemaker - decent year. 2015 ZIPS were nice so I wouldn't expect a ton of regression. Should be fine #5

Josh Tomlin - wild card. He had an excellent shortened year but not sure how ZIPS will treat him. FIP not great, but xFIP was 3.77. Good K numbers, good BB numbers. Hopefully I strike gold.

Bullpen will be a big strength yet again.

Craig Kimbrel
Wade Davis
Glen Perkins
Pedro Strop
Charlie Furbush
Jordan Walden
Joe Blanton - hopefully he gets a good projection, he earned it
