Putting a few guys on the block who may be useful to contending teams looking for depth.
BULLPEN ARMS
Jeanmar Gomez – Decent projection and sim, solid numbers in real life out of Pirates’ pen, still only 26. Still usable as SP.
Luis Avilan – Decent projection and sim, been solid as Braves’ primary lefty, in third MLB season at just 24.
HITTERS
Josh Phegley – Useful in a platoon at C, 13 HR / 20 2Bs and throws out base-stealers at 47% at AAA.
Alex Hassan – Plays all three OF positions and will profile at 1B next year, made his MLB debut this year, has rediscovered his stroke at AAA, still an OBP machine. Not a bad projection as a defensive replacement/bench bat.
Matt Szczur – Former Top 65 prospect is still young (24), plays good defensive at all three OF positions and runs very well. Former college football star is super athlete. Could see him in Wrigley this year.
PROSPECTS
Renato Nunez – Destroying A+ pitching (especially lately), headed to Futures Game, reduced Ks and increased BBs this season. Top 5 prospect in good Oakland system.
Nolan Fontana – Switched to 2B at the same time he moved up to AA and was thriving until he broke his pinky. Should return in a couple of weeks. OBP machine with good hit tool and head for the game.
Charlie Tilson – Good season has him labeled as a prospect once again. True CF with good speed and glove and potentially a + hit tool. Should be in AA by year’s end.
Travis Shaw – He’s kept hitting since moving up to AAA. Glove and power are there. MLB ranks him a Top 10 1B overall.
Jed Bradley – Former Top 100 prospect is back on the map, quietly having a nice season between A+-AA. Good K stuff is showing. Plus, Jedidiah Custer Bradley is a fantastic name (better if he went by “Jedi.”)
Nick Petree – Former College World Series star has been untouchable at three levels as a pro. Owns a career 1.60 ERA and just 7 hits / 9 ip. 4:1 K:BB ratio. Now listed among the Cardinals’ Top 20 on most lists.
Feel free to ask about anyone else who may interest you. No one’s untouchable….but some are more expensive than others.
Looking for young talent, prospects, and draft picks in return as I continue my rebuild. PM me.
