It's Home Run Pool time...

Every year I encourage people to sign up for this because it's a lot of fun and there's a nice potential payday. Last year, I think six of us signed up. I took home about $800 after finishing third, a year after Jake Levine took home the whole thing and JB finished fifth. I'd love to have more this year.
It's $5 per entry.
Here's how it works:

Go here: http://www.thehomerunpool.com/

If you look at the "Main Signup Sheet" link, there are four lists, each with 7 names. You must pick one player off of each of those lists and then you are allowed three "wildcards" of players whose names don't appear on those lists. So, anyone but the 28 players on those lists. You can enter as many lists as you want (see "Extra Sheet Lists")
Goal is to total the most home runs.
It sounds simple enough, but between injuries, down years, etc., it can be tough. But it's a pool that's been going on for decades. The website is typically updated daily throughout the year so you can keep track.

Deadline is March 31 Enjoy!

Good. I should note that you have to print and mail sheets with a check. Some things never change...

I'll get in on this old-school format. If Pat G can do well...well, why can't I?

Good news, sports fans. The Home Run Pool 2014 lists are entered and available at www.thehomerunpool.com!
You can search page by page or go to "list finder" and enter your last name. Occasionally, there is a misspelling in your name since you have to write it out on entry sheets, so keep that in mind.

This is what I have to date as best lists:

Nick: 28
Andrew: 25
Pat G: 25
JB: 25
John: 24
Aaron: 23
Stephen D: 21
Jim: 18

As of 5/1, we have an IBC sighting on the front page of the HR Pool:

Nick: 39
JB: 36
Pat G: 34
Aaron: 33
Jim: 33
John: 32
Andrew: 31
Stephen D: 28

If you were smart like me, you put a lot of faith in Trumbo and Harper (doh!)

I did 4 lists and have Bryce on three of them. Also have Braun on 3 of 4, so hopefully that injury doesn't linger all season.

Pujols and Nelson Cruz are carrying me. Fielder and Matt Adams are hurting me the most, though hopefully Adams is starting to find his power stroke

If it makes you feel any better, I won the whole thing when Giancarlo Stanton was out for about 5 weeks near the end of the year. Not bragging, I promise.

Yeah, I'm pretty much dead in the water--Davis, Harper, Trumbo, Arcia. Oh and Braun is a danger as well. Oy.

One hit wonder...too scared to try to do it again. You're the Bob Hamelin of the HR Pool :)

Even though I'm firmly out of it this year, I'll give an update for those who are interested/have pride in their results:

JB: 106
Nick: 103
Jim: 101
Pat G: 85
Stephen D: 83
Aaron: 81
John: 74
Andrew: 65

JB, Nick and Jim all appear on Page 1, so do the IBC proud and make it three straight years of payout finishes for the league, boys. FYI: leader sits at 122.

101 Jim Berger Cabrera, Miguel 13 Trout, Mike 17 Tulowitzki, Troy 18 Abreu, Jose 23 Moss, Brandon 18 Harper, Bryce 1 Ramirez, Hanley 11

Doing okay considering Harper has been a bust ...

103 Nick Perry Cabrera, Miguel 13 Trout, Mike 17 Braun, Ryan 10 Pujols, Albert 16 Cruz, Nelson 24 Ramirez, Hanley 11 Freeman, Freddie 12

Big hit was Nelson Cruz and this is the only entry he made out of my 4. Need Hanley and Braun to take off to get some $$. My other three entries each had Bryce Harper on them, so that's killing me for the time being. I have Rizzo on 2 and Freddie on 2, wish I went all Rizzo. I have Brandon Moss on two as well, but obviously not on my top list.
