I think there should be a NL Gm and AL GM of the year...then you can still have one overall..

Also, Rolaids Relief award & comeback players of the year for each league.

Gracias, I knew I forrgot something.

We've never done a comeback award before, the fickle nature of the Sim doesn't lend itself to that too well.

can we come up with some of our own awards specific to our league? I dunno.. like "funniest post of the year" or "GM who made lamest excuse of the year" or best trade & worst trade of the year, etc?

most invisible gm of the year
most visible
biggest whiner
stingiest gm
most/least active
most explitive ladden post
most unrealistic trade proposal
gm who most overvalues his own players

best/worst/craziest boxscore line
best/worst/craziest pitching line
best/worst/craziest boxscore/game

come on, this could be good stuff.

I know I won't be in the running for trader bob.. that's for sure. have I even made a trade since april?

I'll pull it out later today and type it out, but Andrew sent out an email back in 03 asking for stuff like most mature gm, most active....

Neither Bocachica or Delmon are eligible for ROY honors. Check their player pages for previous IBC stats.

Man, I've always hated having to distinguish the BC rookies out...

Do we have a list somewhere of all the previous winners of the year end awards?

I'll make my nominations when the DB comes out tonight/tomorrow

I assume they're somewhere. If JP is willing to make logos, I can make sure they show up on player pages for their superlatives.

I'd like to propose a new one:

The Nate Award...

To the GM that has had the absolute most shitty summer, and still managed to do their best to keep their team going.

What's the rush? The season isn't even over...don't close it out yet.

I'd like to nominate Jeff Keppinger for MVP. Before his return from injury on May 9th the A's were 16-16, since then we've gone 81-44. In my preseason sims I noticed a similar jump, often as much as 10 games or more, whenever Keppinger was in the lineup as opposed to other players with similar projections. Plus he's a white guy under 6'2 who doesn't hit for a ton of power, so he qualifies as one of the scrappiest and hustliest guys in the IBC.

I agree ... nominations can be sent in during the playoffs - when the majority of GMs aren't playing.

I suggest a cut-off date of October 15 ... heck the World Series doesn't even begin until October 24 this year.

I second that. I don't see why we can't wait at least until the "end of the season" for guys to have time to vote on the "end of the season" awards.

I'm not looking to close out the nominees, I just want to make sure the topic doesn't fall by the wayside and disappear.

Ah, we thought you were just getting antsy and jumping the gun..........

A simple "bump" works too.....that way all us over reactive types don't jump to inaccurate conclusions.

I've got the NL ROY right here (hopefully): Adam Lind .318/.389/.523, 198 h, 37 2b, 30 hr, 115 r, 102 rbi
Zimmerman is probably a candidate for MVP, but shouldn't win: .322/.384/.529, 212 h, 50 2b, 28 hr, 116 r, 91 rbi

A few O's for AL ROY (though both arrived midseason from the NL)

James Loney, 1B - .295/.344/.423, 80 R, 8 HR, 65 RBI

I'm going to nominate 2 of my guys for NL ROY, because they both have less than 150 IBC at bats entering the year which makes them rookies.

Nick Markakis .313/.399/.537 28 HR 116 RBI and 11 OF assists

Ben Johnson .298/.364/.522 11 HR in 245 abs before he got hurt

AL MVP: Esteban German
AL CY Young: Glavine
AL ROY: Keppinger(I dunno if he qualifies)

NL MVP: Brian Roberts
NL CY: Sowers

Manager of the Year: Jake
Trader Bob: JP

question: can the ROY be anyone in the sim who qualifies even if they have yet to play in the majors, or does it have to be someone who has played significant time in the majors
