2013 Wrapup
Sano is one of the single biggest names in the minors. He was featured in a documentary about the MLB in the Dominican Republican and some of the ugliness of that system.
Oh, and he can fucking HIT.
In 2012 he put up an impressive .258/.373/.521 line with 28 hr's over 450+ AB's in the Mid Atlantic league. As a 19yr old.
This year he decided he better step up his game and hit .280/.382/.510 with 35 hr's in 429 AB's between High A and AA. He had as many hr's as he had doubles and triples combined. Sano's k/bb rate is a weak spot, but if he does improve it and keeps getting stronger, a HR title or two is in his future.
On the downside, initially drafted as a SS, Sano's defense is terrible at 3b (though his errors dropped this year) and a move to 1b or the OF may be in his future if he can't improve that defense further.
We here in SD won't mind as 3b is occupied by some kid from Miami named Machado who isn't too bad. Outfield would be ideal for our needs, but wherever he ends up, he'll find a spot in the lineup.
