Kelly

The ExCo has unanimously decided that it was time to remove Kelly as the GM of the Indians. This was a Dave Taylor situation again, nobody disliked Kelly but he was clearly in over his head and made no progress in 5 years with the club. His decision to trade off top prospects this year for basically nothing to try and win the ALC was the last straw. We had discussed this off and on for a couple of years and decided it was finally time to act before he hurt the franchise further.

As always, anyone with GM recommendations feel free to make them

It's a little more complex than that.

It's not the first time that Kelly has absolutely destroyed whatever talent he's had on his roster. Speaking for myself, I'm perfectly fine with GMs trying to win, and totally encourage it. Some of the trades he made should have been vetoed (in my opinion), and he had a couple that were rejected, and still didn't learn. I doubt many (if anyone) else in the league would have surrendered a first rounder for Lance Berkman, while he was hurt with a major knee injury. Now Berkman is leaning toward retirement, and even if he doesn't, is a huge question mark.

Kelly had something pretty decent going last year, with Anthony Rendon, AJ Cole, Kolten Wong and a few other pretty nice prospects, and of course, a draft class. Now there's not much of anything, and Cleveland's first pick is NYY's RD2. If it were the first time, sure, whatever, but it's just the same cycle over and over again.

Hey Aaron,

Ok, I understand. It sucks because I really enjoyed being a member of the IBC, I had a lot of fun, loved the competitiveness of the league and always strived to do my best for the Indians. But I know you guys have to do what you feel is best for the league, and I am Ok with your decision to move in another direction.

Please do me one favor and put up a post thanking all the GMs for making my time in the IBC such a good experience. Good luck to you and the league Aaron.
