I'm only in one other league (that crazy CBA league with 225 man rosters), but there are a couple GMs that are actually tolerable over there...everybody else is a jackass.
Anyway, there's a GM there named Brian Walsh who is actually really good with his team, and is interested in joining. He knows it'd be a rebuilding effort, and I think he'd be a really good fit for the league.
Of course, I could be wrong, but he's active and seems to know his stuff. Any objections or other suggestions?

Fine by me, since last time we had openings we had to bring guys back. New blood is always a good idea, well almost

Walsh is a good GM. He'd rival JB and Jagger in lopsided trade offers, but he'd be a good addition.

Hey I thought there was a surname limit...but if you guys will vouch for him I'm sold.

Checking in from DC where we are stuck after running the Marine Corps Marathon yesterday ... he sounds fine by me.

Jason Gudim has suggested Jared Cloutier from the BCMBL, and he emailed me to express interest.
Anybody from the BCMBL familiar with him? I know nothing about him, so can't really form a good opinion on him.

I thought we had him way back when and it didn't go well. I may be thinking of another league that he joined. At any rate, he seems like a decent enough GM, but I wouldn't put too much weight on anything he's done in BCMBL.

That name does sound familiar now that I think about it. I'd say put him on the wait list and go with JP's guy

Rode home with another couple as flights and transportation remained a muddled mess ... went from DC to Gettysburg (via US 15) to Wilkes Barre to 84 ... not much traffic and lots of rain but arrived safely last night avoiding NYC and NJ ... what a mess.
Any way ... I like Jared and find him to very competent in the BCMBL. He is also on the administrative team in that league and I know he is a good friend of John Anderson.
That being said I have no problem (as indicated earlier) with JP's guy so I am good with either.

Glad you got home safe and sound, Jim. It's a total mess in some places in CT, and of course, NY, NJ, and others.
After looking things over, Jared actually was previously in the IBC from 11/2006 until some point during the 2007 season. Because of that, I'm inclined to give Walsh the nod. If that's OK with everyone, I'll get him set up tonight with everything.

Spoke with Aaron and Shawn via messenger, and with Jim OK with Brian, I'm going to go ahead and set him up shortly, and announce him to the league.

So, a few GMs have asked me what's up with Brian. He hasn't made any moves since joining the league, and has an illegal roster still. (Over 50 and the draftees aren't close to legal either)
I asked him about it, and this is what he told me:
"JP, I feel terrible. It s possible I have taken on too much. I own my own company and have been slammed at work (a good thing) but my rec time has decreased substantially lately. I still have interest in the IBC, but understand if some other arrangement has to be made. I was planning on trying to get the roster thing squared up this weekend, but not sure thats enough to ease everyones concerns. let me know how you want to handle. Again I feel terrible, because I would love to be a part of the league and have not done the job or put in the time I wanted to."
Your guys' thoughts?

Do we have any other prospects out there? On the plus side, he actually responded to you.

I don't feel strongly about this but I'd be inclined to give him a longer rope because I know he's a high end, active GM in a similarly competitive league. I can understand how guys would be wondering what's up, though.

I pretty much agree with what Brett just said. I think we should be keeping a closer eye on his activity from this point forward, though.

Yeah, give him a little slack but if he's not active once the season starts we revisit this

I agree with Aaron - and the above ...

I'm okay with the rope, but we seem to have a history of pulling guys from other leagues who are active there but never get into the IBC enough to ever put energy into it and eventually we boot them for not paying enough attention.

Well, here we are on May 6. I was willing to give Brian awhile to get it going, but no MP has been sent yet. He did e-mail me about two to three weeks ago asking how to H2H. I sent a lengthy reply, detailing what has to be done, and also that he needs to send a roster in for when he doesn't get to play. He hasn't sent a roster in, and the only moves he's made since being here are when prompted -- through the draft (like two picks) and when I asked him two or three times to get his roster in compliance.
Others are starting to notice, too. I know he's busy, but he hasn't done anything to turn the team around in half a year. We can't really let a team idle all summer while breakout prospects are swooped up. If any team in the league needs talent infusion, it's this one.

I'm always inclined to give a guy another chance. But at this point we have an established pattern of inactivity from Brian that probably merits going in a different direction.
I know he's recently taken over as commissioner of another league, so his loyalties are divided, to say the least. Let's give another guy a chance to turn Cleveland around.

I think we gave him a chance in March and he didn't step up to the plate. If he took on additional stuff in another league, in my opinion that closes the book on him.
