2012 Disc Update

Received this e-mail today from DMB:
As we did last year, we expect to release the final edition Dan Szymborski's ZiPS Projections with up to date rosters rosters and manager profiles shortly after opening day. However, we won't be able to confirm whether or not there will be an earlier preview release (or "Sim league" edition) that does not include projected pitching rotations, lineups and depth charts until we have received the projection data.
Hopefully, we'll get that sim league edition disc so it's not a ridiculous first month simming schedule like last year, but it's looking like it might be.

Think we're getting splits again?

We had them last year, did we not? Looking at my team in DMB I see them.

Yeah, last year was the first time ZiPS had splits since DMB assisted in building the database. My assumption is that splits will be included again.

For some reason I was thinking last year was the one with only some splits...yeesh

Still waiting on a disc from DMB. No word about a sim league edition yet. Still hoping. Either way, it shouldn't be too much longer, and I doubt we'll be set back like we were last April. I hope not, anyway.

DMB website has been updated from "before opening day" to "shortly after opening day" which to me means Monday 4/9, the same date we got the disc last year.

Forgot this weekend is Easter. Push it back from Monday 'til Wednesday at least.

This from Diesel on the forum:

"Due to the extreme late date that the raw ZiPS projections data was received, it became necessary to alter the original projected release schedule. At this point, I don't know exactly what Luke has received or how much additional work is required. For example, if Dan provided projected manager profiles (pitching charts, saved lineups and depth charts) then there is likely not much left to do before the finished product can be released. Otherwise, creating manager profiles could take a fair amount of additional time. In any case, I still don't see how this can be released until after the Easter holiday weekend."

So as I read it, the "pitching charts, line-ups, depth charts" thing means there will be no sim edition and it seems a release date of 'hopefuly' next week.

Yeah, I wouldn't be counting on anything come Monday. My guess is late next week or early the following.

Can I just say, and I know it's no ones fault in this league, but it sucks not having sim games on opening day.

The Version 10 patch is also available for download on the DMB site.

We now have a date from DMB.

"Release of the 2012 ZiPS Projection Season is scheduled for Tuesday April 17th, 2012. "

Not what I'd call 'shortly after opening day'. Looks like sim beginning around Saturday 4/20 and double days well into May.
