So, as you all know.. I consider myself a pretty big audiophile.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE music.. Its a big part of who I am. I love all types of music.. just about.

So give me a short list of what YOU are listening to so I can discover some new stuff. Here's what's on my playlist recently.

Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto - you know how I know you're gay? You listen to Coldplay. Seriously though, pretty damn good album top to bottom. Best one since a Rush of Blood.

Kasabian - Velociraptor! - Love this band. Love all their albums. With any luck, I'll convince the wife to go see them on our 1 year anniversary as they're in town.

Barcelona - Absolutes - Lots of Piano - which I've become a bigger fan of later in my life than I ever was. A couple of ditty's on this album include "Please don't go" and "Come back when you can".

Beastie Boys - Check Your Head - Classic. Rap, Punk, and just weird shit all around. An Amalgamation of sound. Makes me nostalgic and wax poetic about my younger years smoking tons of weed and cruising around. An anthem album from my childhood.

The Rifles - Great Escape - Another solid album top to bottom from a UK artist. There is science in violence!

Boston - Boston - One of the best selling debut albums of all time. Classic Rock N Roll at its finest. Nearly every song was a hit, or should have been. Every song is gold. Fortunate enough to see these guys at Red Rocks once with my younger brother. We were probably the youngest people there. Some dude and his wife were amazed me and my brother knew who they were, so they bought us beer. We were well underage.

Mustard Pimp - No Title Or Purpose - Electronic Music Madness. Dope, glitchy, chunky, funky beats. The album one of the best produced electronic albums in a long long time.

Thats all for now. Add your own please!

Actually that goes for all of you. It's like 3 bucks so buy it, you'll like it. Don't buy hooray for happiness. That's some gay band that stole their band name.

If you're into metal at all, I highly recommend the most current releases from the following, just about all I've listened to for months:

Unearth
Times of Grace

Marlins wrote:I like the Sea Wolf album a lot. I also like the Spoon album, but I still think Kill the Moonlight was their best, and all the albums after have been similar but not quite as good (still worthy of a purchase though). Bought LCD soundsystem but haven't gotten into it yet really. The White Stripes just always kick ass.

Not sure how old some of these are since I've kinda fallen behind on mining for music, but here's a few I'm listening to a lot right now:

Turn the Lights Out, The Ponys
It's Never Been Like That, Phoenix
Up in Rags (EP), Cold War Kids
Skeleton, Figurines
So This is Goodbye, Junior Boys
The Trials of Van Occupanther, Midlake
Boxer, The National
The Body, the Blood, the Machine, The Thermals
A Lesson in Crime, Tokyo Police Club
The Big Come Up, The Black Keys
That's my response from one of these threads in 2007. Some hits, some misses. Kinda like my prospect lists.

In the process of transferring all my music from one computer to the other and all the annoying crap that comes with that, so I haven't really given the new stuff I have a good listen, but here are a few bands I have newly in the rotation that I like so far:

WU LYF
Bass Drum of Death
Thee Oh Sees
Cloud Nothings (Turning On is their best album, imo, but haven't heard new one much yet)
Wavves
Justice
Kurt Vile (Smoke Ring for my Halo is good)
Hooray for Earth
Dag for Dag (as a nutso side-note, I read about this swedish brother-sister duo in a music magazine before realizing the brother was my downstairs neighbor from San Francisco 10 yrs ago - also not swedish but from Montana)
The Builders and the Butchers
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.

A couple more from the past few years I've liked:

Wooden Shjips
Crocodiles
Moondoggies (Don't Be a Stranger is the album to check out)
Black Lips
Little Brother (Minstrel Show or And Justus for All...)
Royal Bangs
No Age
Fucked Up (the newest one, David Comes to Life is pretty good)
Black Milk

Agreed. I know they haven't done a ton with their sound, but the guy's voice is awesome and I've liked every single thing they've put out so far.

If you're looking for an up and coming band, check out the Alabama Shakes. I have a buddy who raved about them a few months ago. Then a few weeks ago they somehow ended up in a convo on a segment of our local Seattle sports talk radio. Same thing, big raves. Apparently signed to a major label with their debut due out soon. Maybe a band some of you should check out. Not my thing, but thought some of you might dig it.

Yep, I'm still listening to Spoon. Catching a couple of their shows next month, so I'm getting hyped for that.

But I've also had a lot of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds lately as well as Tinariwen.

finally got around to listening to this, and it's very good. I became a fan of her/them when I saw them open for U2 in Baltimore last year. Not sure if it's better than her first album, but it's still very good.

Alabama Shakes are all over Atlanta radio. I first heard them and thought Tracy Chapman came out with a rocking new album. \

I've been pop-rockin' it lately -
Gotye
Fun.
Grouplove
Margot & Nuclear So & So's
& God Forbid - Equilibrium

Can't decide if I like Gotye yet. I like the title track...everything else is very European-sounding. Not sure if I like it enough to get the album.
