Sweet Jane

My Mother-in-Law, Jane, who has been like a second mother to me suffered a severe stroke Friday evening. Fortunately we were able to fly Patti out from Maine to Illinois in time to spend some time with her but on Sunday she was administered "last rites" and her medical treatment was switched to "Comfort Care". She is currently 'resting' peacefully in hospice while renal failure and associated issues kick in ... morphine is great drug when necessary!

Long story short, I will be leaving with our 4 daughters early Wednesday morning and expect to arrive to arrive in Springfield, IL Thursday evening. Visitation looks like it will be Friday and a commemoration of death/celebration of her life will be Saturday. Hope to be back in Maine by Tuesday evening.

Will be checking in very infrequently but daily - likely in the evening or very early morning before I get in a run.

Echoing everything that's already been said here, Jim. Have a safe trip, too.

Sorry to hear, it is terrible when a family trip somewhere is for the loss of a relative.

On a lighter note, if she is Irish, there is always the bonus of an Irish wake where you celebrate the good times with plenty of whiskey toasts.
