No surprise JP took Darvish.

Angels got two high ceiling arms.

I wanted one of the arms that went ahead of my pick, but no one obliged and took Cespedes to push them down to me. With two 70 grades and two 60's Cespedes couldn't fall any farther. ZiPs has him .270/.331/.435 in CF. Plus he roasts a mean pig.

Thought maybe the Queue wasn't working before I went to bed, but it seems to be working fine. Thanks for writing it Shawn. Wish more people would use it.

Cespedes was very high on my list but there are a few too many question marks with him...nice gamble though.

Starling falling to 7 was a little bit surprising, but he is a ways off and a lot can go wrong.

At the least, you've picked up what, a 3 WAR bat for CF for at least a year with Cespedes? Pretty solid pick, especially if you're competing. Given everybody else in the top 10 or so is in some stage of rebuilding, I'm not that surprised that he fell to 11, but I am a little bit, especially since he received a kind projection.

I do wish I had some more picks between now and round 3 since it's a pretty nice draft, but that's just the way it is.

So will it be another year of avoiding the men of color? I know I am trying to keep up the trend of picking players that are not of legal drinking age.

Last I checked Taijuan Walker is black. Nobody white is going to name their kid Taijuan.

Jim I was going to take him in one of my next 3 picks so there was no way Wong was getting to you. Now I gotta regroup before my next pick, should make it by 7

With Rendon blocked in Washington I think there's a pretty good chance he moves to 2B. With that in mind, not sure I would have gone 2B there. I do like Kolten though.

Zimmerman has been brittle of late so maybe it works out fine...

Haha, have you seen his picture...he is a lot more caramel to milk chocolate than dark.

But you are right about the naming...though there are a few oddities.

Yeah, I've heard Rendon could end up at 2nd, but I just went with who I liked best with each pick and let things sort themselves out down the road. Rendon and Wong were who I was hoping to get at #3 and #13, so I couldn't be happier about how things worked out.....

Why doesnt anyone use the Queue?

Fuck you Jim. I thought I'd luck out and Martin would fall to me, but since he didn't I'm making the first big reach in the draft and taking White Prince Fielder. My favorite kinds of players are the guys with A+ power and A+ makeup (it worked out with Mike Stanton in any case), and I didn't want to risk that I couldn't get him in round 2. It was tough though, there are some guys on the board I wasn't expecting to see here.

I guess my hopes of Martin or Soler sliding were far fetched
Looks like there was a lot of interest in those guys.

I pegged Brett P. for one of them, but was hoping people stuck with American talent in such a deep draft.

Does that insinuate you will be making other reaches? And you really don't have much to work with since he either hits well and can play first or hits really well and can play DH.

It insinuates that there will be other reaches, whether by me or not. In any case my current 1B is Adam Dunn so it's not like Vogelbach is blocked at that position (or so it would seem). He might be another 40 home run bat in my lineup, in which case I'll happily stick him at DH and enjoy. Not surprised to see Springer go next, thought long and hard about pulling the trigger on him, we'll see how it plays out.

Dan taking George Springer made my decision to draft Swihart easier, though taking Springer after selecting Bubba Starling is a bit redundant.

You can probably put that one in the reach catagory as well. I think Iwakuma has been better than Wada for his career but he's coming off a shoulder problem and didn't get the same bump most of the Japanese pitchers got from the new ball last year. On the positive side he's signed and ZiPS has been pretty kind to all of the NPB guys so far this year. Playing in Seattle should be good for him and all I really need in the back of the rotation is a guy with a low BB rate who keeps the ball in the park.

What are the odds Nimmo would've been on the board this long if he actually got to play high school baseball? I debated him on my last 2 picks but the fact he only played tournament ball while growing up is what made me pass

Well I took one National to keep Harper happy. Left Meyer for someone else.

As everyone always says you can never have too many SP prospects. Really wanted a hitter with one of the picks, but nothing jumped out at me.
