Pittsburgh and Cleveland

I am reposting this poll because I have reason to believe, through discussions with ExCo members, that the results may be different.
-Pittsburgh did finally submit a roster last night, his first after four months in the league, three weeks after being told by both JP and I that he needed to get on the ball and a week after being publicly called out on the message board about his rosters.
-He remains the worst DL violator in the league.
-He told JP that he is strapped for time (apparently he was too strapped for time to submit a roster and deactivate his injured players but not too busy make a trade with JP).
-He was given a second chance when the ExCo voted to keep him and he did nothing at all with it. he has done nothing to earn another chance.
-If his membership were put to a league-wide vote, there is no question in my mind that he'd be booted.
-Having another GM caretake the team would be better for the league, as at least then injured players wouldn't end up playing on a monthly basis.
-As we've seen with finding a GM for Washington, there would not be a long wait to replace him with a GM who would truly take advantage of being part of the league (Washington got his team less than two days ago and I got a roster from him yesterday).

I have to admit that the same standards apply to Craig as well. I've given him the benefit of the doubt because he's been around for a while and has shown that he is at least capable of doing the minimum required, which Pitt has not. However, doing the minimum isn't enough and Craig probably ought to be replaced as well.

I haven't voted yet, but I wanted to make clear that it wasn't because I hadn't given it any thought.

This is a very difficult issue for me, I guess because I look at this sort of thing conservatively, I can't make sense of letting go of two guys without feeling confident that we're actually going to find guys who are as good or better, while being more interested.

On the other hand, I haven't been in a position where I've had to deal with disinterested GMs, and I respect the perspective of Bren and those who have.

Maybe JP will vote to boot them and my vote won't matter, but I'm struggling to click the boot button on these guys because I'm not convinced that we're going to find guys who are less likely to screw up league balance than these guys (and Cleveland does still have some ability to do that, evne though he already did his part in trading Peavy).

I'm kind of in the same boat.

Reason to boot: They kind of don't do anything; seem rather carefree about the league..... but when approached, they do care. Is it because somebody approaches them and they put on a facade or is it because they are just legit swamped right now?

Reason not to: They both did what we asked them to do. Craig cut 3 dudes immediately, Ryan sent in a roster. Wouldn't it be kind of dick to say hey....you know, do this...k thanks, oh yeah, thanks for doing that, now you're gone?

Another reason for me not to is because we don't have anybody lined up. A lameduck GM may do less harm to the league than a Bobby would have. If we had sure-fire GM's lined up...then sure. See ya later guys!

I'm not sure which way I'm voting and I'll probably decide tonight.

Unfortunately Lame Duck GM's CAN be harmful.
They harm the activity of the league by doing nothing.
They harm the integrity of the league by failing to submit rosters which put out the best team possible, making what could be a somewhat decent team into a bad one, effecting the way the Division and WildCards play out.
They also harm individual other GM's by playing DLed players.
They also harm me personally because I have ended up having to watch their team.

Now, maybe I'm alone in this, but when a GM ignores two members of the ExCo for three weeks on top of not submitting a roster for over 3 months, I find that pretty insulting. Craig at least addressed his problem within something like 48 hours. Shouldn't have happened in the first place, but
Ryan took 4 months to submit his first roster for the team. That's 2/3rds of the entire season. Tell the league as a whole that he didn't submit a roster for 2/3 of a season and they'll demand he gets the boot, no question about it. And they'd be right.
I guarantee we can do better than that. We already did with the new Nats GM.

After reading these arguments and doing some thinking, I've gone back to on the fence about the subject, though probably still leaning towards booting both.

Pittsburgh I make no excuses for and think he should be out either way. Craig though, presents me with questions. Yes, he does send lineups and made those moves immediately, but on the other hand, I do believe he got a "increase the activity" email in the last year and didn't really do anything extra. The fact that he hasn't made a single post to the message board is a bit discouraging and thinking of it, I'm not even sure he reads the majority, if any, of messages at any point, JP and I are always online and I know I usually check to see who else is and I can't remember seeing Craig as far back as I can remember. With the league increasingly transitioning to using the message board/OOPSS as the sole communication between GMs and the rest of the league (emails being phased out), I'm not sure a guy who isn't going to check every once in a while is a good match for this league in particular.

Sorry to keep you on the hot seat Brett, I've been waffling on my decision also, but I really don't think Pittsburgh has a debatable case.

ok but im not typing the emails to boot them this time.

somebody else better find the GM's too, and quickly because it's kind of dick to leave Ryan T. (nats) in limbo with his roster not knowing what he can do. it would be nice for him to be able to trade and start signing prospects but it looks like a minidraft now, so you bums better get GMs on the asap. i will look as well but im not going break my back doing so. Bren mainly has been the guy wanting all this booting so you had better do some good GM hunting.
