GM Vacancy / Team Shuffling

A few things here. Texas and Anaheim were opened up this year - obviously we've filled Anaheim - are we going to allow any current GM's (guys who haven't had a chance to move basically which should be a short list) to swap with either Anaheim or Texas?

Secondly, we need a GM. Jim had me e-mail somebody he knows from another league, Dan, who is interested in the position.
Hi JP..Jim has told me quite alot about the league. I am very well versed in Minor league players and all that. Following the Minors is a major part of what I do with Baseball, as well as anything involving the amatuer draft. I would match my knowledge of Minor league players with anyone.

As far as SIM league experience..I have been a very active member of the OBSL for the last 6 seasons..this is where I got to know Jim. I have tried to get in other leagues...seems like they never flew..guys just wanted to draft it seems. I am the GM for the Az Dbacks in OBSL. I have rebuilt my Dbacks in the OBSL..taking over a team that needs some help is a great challenge..as I would in the IBC..but has its rewards. As Jim will surely tell you..I am not afraid to pull the trigger on deals and go for it. There are some different rules in the IBC that would take me some getting used to...it would be great having a friend like Jim that I can ask questions to. I have always had positive interaction with fellow GMs. I am always cival and most importantly..I always reply to any questions/proposals sent my way. I havent talked to my Commish in the OBSL(Stacy) but I am 100% sure he would give me a thumbs up should you need it. I am a active member of the Trade Commitee in the OBSL

I hope you consider me. Even if you go in another direction..keep me in mind for any future openings. Thanks Dan
Scott Gessford, who was interested last time, remains interested as well.

Those appear to be the two candidates we have at this point and obviously, I encourage anybody to talk to anybody they may know that would be interested.

What is everybody's thoughts on both Dan and franchises moving - if we are to allow that of course. I'm sure people will ask to move since the AL West is well...the AL West.

This Dan guy seems like a good fit. My well has run dry after bringing Steve in and the failed Tim experiment.

I obviously like Dan and believe he would be a good fit or I wouldn't have recommended him to begin with ... :!:

Dan seems like he'd be worth a shot.

As for moving, I suppose we can open up the opportunity to move west, with obvious priority given to the newer members and those who have not yet moved.

I agree that Dan sounds like he should get a shot. I am fine with Scott as well, but I suppose that we can look at him with our next opening.

Yeah I'm fine with Gessford as well but I'd rather give Dan a shot and keep Scott on reserve for the next opening. Sounds like we'll be bringing Dan in.

Yeah, I like what I see from Dan on that email. Hopefully he stops the run of rough new GMs.

Well, he's in and set up. I'll make him his IBC email sometime this week, not terribly important in the offseason.

Am concerned about Texas' moves but don't feel like getting into that now.

What should we do about team shuffling? I can make a post sometime midweek about it and see what happens.

I'm leaning toward asking to move to Texas. With these trades, that team won't win any time soon if ever, so I feel like doing something just to revive my favorite team.

Good let's get you in Texas so that division ain't a joke anymore. I also think we need to talk about Dan soon

I agree about Dan, and I can't believe that we passed all of the deals that we did. We are supposed to watch new GMs closely, and we let him tear that team up in like one or two days, then rubber stamped most of it. It will be great fodder for Bren/Nils types who like to question how exco/trc are running the league, unfortunately, either way, now that everything was passed. Maybe they won't notice since it happened right after the season, but it still isn't good.

I'm ok with Brett moving to Texas since obviously they're his favorite team. And that division could use a little kick in the ass anyway. That would mean Detroit would be opened up and we should probably look to get somebody solid, or at least up and coming, in there. We can open it up to the league from there. I think Ben is a Tigers fan actually. Though he's been asleep at the wheel even since Strasburg went under the knife. Don't think we've any Angels fans in the league.

Agreed on Texas. Aside from Bell/Richard for D-Lee, I don't think any of those trades should have passed. Not that I'm supposed to have a say in trades or anything, I'm not on the TRC, but a new GM needs to be protected to an extent. I'm definitely more of a free-market type of guy when it comes to trading between two GMs who have been here. Granted, I thought the STL/PHI deal was awful (sorry Aaron), I'm not up in arms about it since it was Nick being a fool and he knows what he's getting into. This new guy hasn't a clue what he's getting into.

Ben would be a really good idea if he'd be interested. The only thing that might be hard to sell is that I remember that he liked the idea of playing H2H, and there is a lot more of that in the NL.

I've had Gabe text me a couple of times asking about his deal being vetoed and I believe he has a valid argument with all the other deals being passed. I didn't touch any of those deals since I'm the alternate and Jim was just gone for the weekend but maybe I should've stepped in and vetoed them while Jim was away in hindsight. So no we've got a team that's already been gutted with a GM we have questions about. Great.

Does anybody oppose Brett moving to Texas and asked Ben to take over Detroit? I think Jim, Shawn and Andrew haven't voiced their opinion on that one.

I doubt Andrew will voice displeasure to this one.

Give the Texan his team!

(no selfish motives whatsoever...)

I figured Brett to Texas was a done deal ... should be.

Same, I didn't think there was much to debate.

Shawn Lape is the only one that expressed interest in moving to Detroit. Since he hasn't moved before and has taken a beating in the NLC for a few years, I'm inclined to let him move away to Mo Town, which would put Dan into the NL Central.
