2B?

Ok, was just browsing through the box scores. I think the surprise of the season so far for me is David Ortiz, starting 2B for the Florida Marlins...

I'd seen that earlier and was going to check to see how it was impacting his fielding at 2nd.

If the SIM isn't totally killing his error total and range there then there is something wrong with DMB.

More important than DMB, what's up with the Marlins GM? Ortiz at 2B can't count as league participation?

There is no rule saying you can't play a guy out of position

Guess it depends on what you are talking about when you say "comes to league participation"?

Are you assuming Dan isn't sending in a lineup; becausec Ortiz is playing second base? and thus Dan isn't participating as expected by the league?

or are you implying that Dan playing Ortiz at 2nd somehow violates league participation rules?

I'm going to assume you are implying the first. However I'm not putting it past Dan to be intentionally playing Ortiz at 2b. If he ran the SIM enough and found out the SIM doesn't penalize him that much, then I guess that's how it goes.

If you're trying to quote Rhett Butler you misquoted him

"my dear" was left out for obvious reasons.

For the record, no, Dan hasn't submitted an MP. And no, it's not uncommon for a GM to disappear for a few weeks at a clip. I don't know what's going on in Dan's life right now that he's unable to send in a lineup. Obviously, if it continues for an extended period of time, it's going to be a problem. But for now, his penalty is having the sim randomly generate a lineup and not being able to tweak anything. And he won't be updating his DL obviously either.

I'm inclined to give tenured GMs, especially those with a successful track record, the benefit of the doubt before moving to do something drastic when it comes to participation. Nate was a case where it was to the point of years that were just getting ridiculous and an obscene amount of DL violations had accrued. It was to the point where having him as a GM was detrimental to the league. As of now, Vacek is not a detriment. It'd be a mistake to get rid of a good GM over a couple weeks of being inactive during the season and add somebody who could potentially ruin the roster and make poor trades, making the rich even richer. Of course, if the Marlins want to deal me Tulo on the super cheap, I'll be cool with that.

Sorry guys, basically had to move out of my place in NY Thursday on short notice (the guy I was subletting from returned), and am moving up to Boston this week hopefully for a short-term contract attorney gig while I get set up back in the beaner for the foreseeable future. Bit of a rolling stone these days, but should be able to update lineups/injury replacements by Sunday. Thanks a lot to whoever's keeping my wounded out of the lineup (whether it's JP, or the supercomputer Shawn built that's probably like a week away from taking over the interwebs in their entirety).

Looks like I'll need to get active trading once I get active activating and de-activating. Everyone's available.

Ok, everyone except Troy "the average fielding shortstop" Tulowitzki and Carl Demonte Crawford. Sorry Nils. Never happen man.

Ahem - to clarify...

I meant JP has about as much chance of getting his grubby Trader Bob paws on Tulo anytime soon as you do of finally prying Crawford away from me with offer 12,432 (and I do appreciate every offer sent my way, even if I don't always get back until months later when the players offered have long been dealt away).

My, that seems unnecessary. Somebody still grouchy about a trade offer they didn't like from 2 years ago? Didn't you throw back that entire failed team and re-draft? Pretty sure you don't wanna go down that road, Vanilla.

So, are you trying to say you're not a fan of a lot of people? My guess is you were trying to say you weren't the only person who didn't like me, but the whole issue of putting together a coherent thought got in the way. Maybe you could start a blog, or a facebook group or something.

On the one hand, I'm kind of flattered to have a "not-a-fan club." On the other hand, it's a little insulting this goon was elected spokesperson.

Members of the Connecticut chapter of my not-a-fan club can find me at either Plan B or Giovanni's in Glastonbury, CT after 7 PM tonight (so long as the Red Sox are not rained out) should they want to share their dislike in person as opposed to in broken English on this messageboard.

Is there a secret handshake? Can I join the club? If so, I vote you have a meeting wherever I'm watching the Red Sox game and buy me a beer for giving you something to do with what must be a wretchedly boring life if you're wasting your time worrying about me. Maybe you should worry more about how your team is an IBC-worst 1-9.

Nope I meant that there's plenty of people in this league that I'm not a fan of as well. Far as the rest of whatever you said, can't say I gave a shit to go over it.
