Signing Freeze

ExCo has decided to have a signing freeze...in the future. With there being no timetable for when Dan Szym is going to release the ZiPS database, it would be unfair and silly to put a signing freeze on right now. That said, the minute the database is uploaded to Baseball think factory and shared, that's when the signing freeze will take effect. Luckily for us, there are time stamps so we'll be able to know what signings are valid and what signings aren't.

While ZiPS hasn't been entirely decided upon to use as a projection system, it's the defacto option unless something better comes along soon. I've emailed Baseball Prospectus about PECOTA making it into DMB and that doesn't look at all likely for 2010. Diamond Mind has been non responsive to not just me, but many, including some who have been literally trying to purchase the company. If Diamond Mind does release a disc, it will be with some fanfare and a release date, and we'll do a signing freeze there too.

The first release of the Zips is just that, the 1st release. The 2nd release is the one with corrections. Will we have a freeze between the 1st and 2nd release, or will we once again ignore the 2nd release?

Case in point, leagues that used the 2nd version, had a guy like David Aardsma available, where we had him as a 'created player'.

I'm not sure I see the case in point. It's not as though Aardsma was a free agent last year during the Spring regardless of if Aardsma was not in the database or not. Typically the second build just adds players that were omitted and that should have been there all along- ala Aardsma. Also, Aardsma did pitch in the IBC last year so I don't see how we had him as a 'created player.'

I don't see how we ignored the second release.

Regardless of my incorrect example, you did answer my question. We DON'T ignore the 2nd release, I stand corrected. Thanks

Aardsma pitched so well for me last season, how did you miss him?
