Adam Dunn

So I was lucky enough to be at the Nats new stadium this past Saturday, and witnessed Adam Dunn's 300th career home run. The crowd gave him quite a few very nice ovations, and the home run was massive (missed clearing the seats in right center field by 1 row!).
For a power hitter that has remained largely above steroid suspicion, Adam sure has taken a lot of heat over the years from baseball types who don't necessarily believe in the value of "3 outcome" ballplayers.
Tim Kurkijansdasldk;j wrote a pretty interesting article a week back about strike out hitters - and I thought Adam had some pretty insightful thoughts. Among them was that he could swing at the first or second pitch more - but not getting his pitch to hit, and only having two pitch at-bats would not be as beneficial to his team as getting a walk, making a pitcher throw a lot of pitches, or, godblessit, finding his pitch and hitting it 450 ft.
As a Nats fan, and Dunn's SIM owner, I have an absolute blast rooting for this guy day in, and day out - and he doesn't let me down. He's on his way to his 6th consecutive 40 homer year (and would be his 2nd highest ops year), on the worst team he's ever played on, in a pitcher's park. He's hit 300 homers before he turned 30 - and is well on his way to at least a 500 homer career. The fact that a contending team wouldn't take a chance on him this past off-season is a joke. I've talked to other owners about Chipper, about Bradley, about Carp, etc. - but the one guy who's not going anywhere is Adam Dunn.
