With no need for a fifth starter until April 14, the Diamondbacks will have Max Scherzer open the year on the disabled list.
Scherzer has been slowed by a sore shoulder this spring, but he's back pitching now and he is expected to make that April 14 start. By placing him on the DL, the Diamondbacks will be able to carry one of their out-of-options pitchers, possibly Juan Gutierrez. (Rotoworld.com)
The Florida GM just snapped and went on a rampage, gunning down the entire Marlins training staff upon learning that Max Scherzer would potentially become the Fish's 4th SP to hit the DL before opening day. Scherzer was recently acquired to replace brittle girlie-men Ben Sheets, Dustin McGowan and Adam Miller.

Mariners placed LHP Cesar Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendinitis, retroactive to March 29. (Rotoworld.com)
Amazing. Within a day of me figuring out how to coax a decent seasons-worth of starts out of the groundballing lefty in DMB. All ready to slot him into one of the vacant spots in my rotation and WHAM. Of course.

Good grief. How about a 5-man DL roster? Any steam for that happening in future seasons?

I started last year with 3/5 of my rotation on the DL....my record tells you how it went....give up now dude...you can't win.
