With Degan's resignation that opened up the Chicago franchise. As we set forth last year when we shifted teams, that we were going to afford it to GM's who had their favorite team open up, or to teams that had never had the chance to move before.

The White Sox are Jim's favorite team, and there is zero reason to not allow him to move to Chicago, so the ExCo approved his move. Consequently, the Mets opened up, who we know as John Anderson's favorite team. We approached him about moving to New York, and he accepted.

This left Colorado open, which, before John, had been one of the least stable cities to keep filled. Jake Levine never has been one of the longer tenured GMs without a chance to move, and we approached him about moving to Colorado in effort to get a stable GM in Colorado again, as wlel as not force a newbie to take over with Degan's roster in Colorado. He accepted, and will now be managing the Rockies.

In short:
NYM->CHA- Jim
COL->NYM- Anderson
MIL->COL - Levine
CHW->MIL- Empty

We have had two quick recommendations for the new GM. One coming from Nate, the other coming from Jag. Their immediate efforts are appreciated, but we would also like to get the entire league involved in finding a GM before we make a decision on who to bring in. We are looking for somebody who has sim experience and will be an intelligent and active member of the league.

I will miss the NL West, but I'm sure taking the NL East crown will help me get over it. My first move as the Mets new GM will be to promote the Citi Field patch as the the most innovative piece of modern art in the 21st century.

Lol, did Z really just make a veiled pitch for Josh Morgan? I like it, but it'd never happen.

My candidate does not have any sim experience, but comes from the same community as Ken - and I think Ken's addition was a great one and I'm confident in this kid's knowledge. He doesn't have the application of course, but neither did Jim when he started if I'm not mistaken, and again, Jim has been a fine addition to the league. So while its not the perfect situation, I think he's still a good candidate for the league.

That said, I'd be interested to hear about other potential replacement candidates from their nominees, if that's okay with everyone else.

Also, kudos to the exco on the moves, they make sense, and seem to accomodate those GM's and the rest of the league well.

We're still collecting candidates.

That's my understanding Brett, I was hoping to learn more about them if at all possible.

Oh sorry, I thought from what you said that you thought that we were further along in the process than we are. As JP said, the only names that have been brought up are the ones you and Jagger mentioned. I brought up Ben Montgomery's name, as he's probably the best GM in one of the leagues some of us are in who isn't in IBC, but I haven't asked him if he'd be interested, and there is some sentiment to go outside of our little bubble a little further.

Moving forward, are the franchise move opportunities going to be open to the league or will it be invite only at the discretion of the Exco?

One of the other guys may have a different take, but procedurally speaking I don't think there is any reason that the exco has to "invite" someone to move. Jim's and John's fandoms are well known, and they would have seniority on anyone else who is a fan of one of those teams, so those were just natural moves. Jake expressed a willingness to move to Colorado if it came open. The exco just agreed to allow those guys to move if they wanted to.

Moving forward the policy hasn't changed. If a guy's favorite team opens up he'll generally be allowed to move, and beyond that there will be little if any movement allowed. And that will probably be restricted to guys who have never had the chance to move since joining the league. Colorado is just a unique situation since it can be really hard to recruit someone stable to that team.

Fair point, and I'd imagine if anyone in the league wanted to go to Milwaukee, now's the time.

On the other points, kudos to Jake on voluntarily going to Colorado. As an ex-Thin Airer, that place is a blackhole. I wouldn't even wish it upon Andrew and Brett P.

I thought about heading out to Coors (I spent several years in Colorado and have actually been to more Rockies games than Twins games)...but having a franchise in that place scares the crap out of me. Besides, I have too much fun in the Central with you, Z. Props to Jake for having the guts to take over Colorado!

The team moves have been made in OOPSS, however there will be some lag between the team name changing and the team images changing. Also, the emails have not changed yet, I'll post again if/when they are.

I just talked to a former GM, Kegan LeFort. he said he'd be game to come back. Apparently his girlfriend has given him some free time.

It'd be great to have Kegan back. He's a good dude... when the GF lets him off the leash.
