What are your top 5 sports theme songs? Songs used in the background for highlights are acceptable as long as it is easily recognizable and synonymous with a sport.

This will be a tough list for me.

#1 - International Statement

#1- International Statement (we all know everyone likes it and it took me 4 years to find an actually downloadable version of this song who then passed it along to JP)

Good topic. My top 3 were already listed.

1) International Statement. It doesn't get better.

2) MLB on Fox. Nothing like getting ready for baseball, especially in October.

3) NCAA College Basketball Theme. Love hearing that shit in March.

That's a good list JP. For me ESPN National Hockey Night is #1.

One addition I'd make is the CBS NFL open from when the NFL was great:

It starts at 1:43 and there are full versions on youtube, but despite the cheesy open before it, hearing it open a big game gives me chills from my childhood.

Up She Rises (The Drunken Sailor song) from NFL Films has to be up there as well, when it comes to classics.

International Statement is right up there, and MLB on FOX is a good theme as well.

For what it's worth, the ABC NHL theme sounded like someone took the NHN theme and smashed it on concrete. I think it's terrible. NHL on Versus actually isn't too bad. And the CBC HNIC themes are just awful. They sound like they're from the 60s and 70s and not in a good way.

Not sure if this necessary fits what this thread is about, but several years ago "My Hero" by Foo Fighters was used a lot and always pumped me up a bit even if I didn't like the team the commercial was promoting (maybe the Yankees?).......

Is the Sunday Night Football theme growing on anyone else? I hated it at first, but starting to change my mind. It just lacks a bit of that "epic" quality. And I can't believe I forgot NBA on NBC. Lovveeeeeeeeeeeeee that shit.

Yeah I was going to say, NBC on NBC is tops for me.

A big one for me that's not really a theme, but, the sound that CBS used during March Madness when they would put updated scores on the bottom of the screen back before the scores of every game were at the top of the screen. There's no way you ever heard that sound and didn't get excited

Yeah I think SNF is pretty good. It doesn't get me all fired up, but its half sporty half network newsy sound is pretty good. If they had that and them more of a dynamic one for the intro maybe, that would be a good combo.

I think the theme songs are a great idea. But Anna Paquin did show major boobage. She somehow got REALLY hot for this vampire show.

I checked this thread expecting to see the theme for Field of Dreams or something similar, but sports shows intros is the overwhelming majority of what's listed, and frankly, that's lame. It's like compiling a list of best intros to news broadcasts.
