Congrats to the Reds for clinching the National League Central crown and being the first team to make it into the postseason.
The A's Magic number in the AL West stands at 10.
The Twins have a magic number of 15.
Those are the next two closest, so there should be some good finishes down the stretch in what has been one of the most unexpected years that we've had. The NLE, NLW and NLWC are up for grabs and one of two teams that will win 100+ Will be on the outside looking in in the AL between Baltimore who currently leads Toronto but trails New York by a game.
Good luck to everybody down the stretch run.

Yankees are still holding tight trying to clinch a playoff spot... Looking good at the moment, however not over yet.
Pujols and Arod are itching to hit some balls off the baggy in the Metrodome though... and Joba is ready to make his first post season start.

Down to the wire in the NL.
The Wild Card and the NL West are both tied. We could be playing some bonus baseball come Monday.

Congrats to the NL Wild Card winner Cardinals, Aaron and his team will have a chance to not only be the first two time champion, but the first back to back champion as well.
Also congrats to Jag and winning the West. Built his team from scratch so it's good to see a full rebuilding effort pay off.
The playoff database will be out in the morning. The matchups are as follows:
STL @ FLA
AZ @ CIN
MIN @ NYY
TOR @ OAK

Congratulations to Pat and the Blue Jays for his first league title.
Congratulations to Aaron and the Cards for being the second GM to repeat as league champs (Nils 04/05.)
Good luck to both of you in the World Series. The sim's schedule is much like Major League baseballs and is slated to begin Thursday 10/23. However if both Pat and Aaron would rather have me sim one game a day starting Monday or Tuesday or whenever instead of following the exact DMB schedule format, we can do that too. But if for whatever reason either of you like the wait then by all means we can wait it out.

Yup, because Aaron beating Brandon H2H in the bottom of the 9th on a walk off grand slam was fixed.
Aaron beating Nate H2H was fixed, as well as Aaron beating Dan in the one game they did H2H was fixed too.
Also, me winning 60 games was totally fixed too.
If you think anything is fixed, please feel free to exit the league.

it's easy to find that to be a joke when you're not the one giving up a portion of every evening to sim for the league and then hear someone say it's fixed. As a joke it's in poor taste and I agree with JP.
However, if it's not a joke (though I believe it is), and I say this with all due respect, then you should get the fuck out. Just my opinion though.

My God, of course he was kidding. And if anyone thinks it was a poor tasting joke then you need to turn down your sensitivity knob a bit. Loosen up and have some fun once in a while ya'll.

After all the drama this league's seen, historically, over the legitmacy of simmings, I think being a little tight is warranted.

Not the best endorsement this league could have used, but I suppose knowing the history of things before I joined is nice to know.

It's not funny and it IS in poor taste. When you put the kind of time and dedication into it that JP does and that I did in the past, to have your integrity questioned is very offensive, even as a joke.
JP has done a truly spectacular job this year, I wish I had turned simming over to him sooner, and to even joke that it's fixed is ungrateful and insulting, regardless of league history.

Do we have some kind of history of cheating accusations I don't know about? Did I sleep through that portion of league drama? I've been here since almost day one and I don't remember that.

There have been some implications and some blatant statements. The first issue is that in 2003, our first season, Nils won the NL Pennant while Nick and I were tied 3 games a piece. The previous spring, just after starting the league, I had quit a Sim basketball league because it seemed very clear to me (and to Nils) that the guy running the league was manipulating the playoffs to get himself and his buddy into the championship. When I found Nils and I in a similar situation following a rocky first season, I was concerned that our members would think the same thing and we'd lose all our members. Keeping the league together meant more to me than winning that season so I did my best to tank Game 7 against Nick and ended up losing. I've wondered at some points whether I made the right decision, but ultimately, I still feel like it was the right call and I'd do it again if I had it to do all over again.
The second issue involved mine and JP's World Series in 2004. in Game 7, his closer didn't come in during a situation which he should have and my team ended up making a comeback. Some people took this as me manipulating the sim and fixing the WS. Personally, I say, give me some damn credit. if I was going to fix the game, I would have resimmed to make a game that looked perfectly normal, not one where his closer didn't come in during a save situation in game 7 of the World Series.

For the Record, I have never thought anyone has cheated especially since the parity the league has with W.S. Champs and that both JP and Bren as well as anyone else who has done any simming has done a terrific job. And since everyone has been in the league for over a year now it seems like everyone has enough trust with each other.
However giving my 2 cents I believe that some sort of vote should be taken so that we get a league wide consensus on what to do during the playoffs and coming down the stretch of the season, so that this subject doesn't have to be revisited in the future. Option 1 being the simming just continues with JP doing it fulltime. Option 2 being JP does the simming fulltime except for his playoff series or if hes making a playoff run. Or Option 3 being that it rotates between the members of the Ex-Co. Im honestly just curious to see how the rest of the league feels about it.

OK then. Accuse me of being in this league for two years with clear eyes and not assuming the worst. I think everyone would see that as a compliment to the league. Of all the SIM/ROTO/Fantasy leagues I've been in, the IBC is by far the best run and most competitive of all I've been in. I respect all that JP, yourself, Shawn, and everyone who keeps this league going does and has done in the past. I am fully confident in everything the IBC does.
But I still see the original comment as kidding and not offensive. It is your prerogative to disagree with me. I hope to win like everyone else, but fun is my #1 priority.
Good luck to all, Kelly CLE

JP would not have simmed had he been in the playoffs (or down the stretch in the regular season), that was a policy the ExCo changed last year.

Bren, JP - I understand someone questioning your integrity is not something easily swallowed - but I kind of agree with Jim and Kelly here. I think we should be happy we're at a place in this league where we can joke like this. Granted, it's not the world's greatest joke, and was probably totally unnecessary, but I think you two (and I certainly could be wrong) were the only ones who read it that way.
To Kelly's point, the IBC is, without question, at the highest level it has ever been at in terms of the quality of GM's, and the positivity everyone enjoys from being in this league. There is healthy debate on all things IBC-like, Shawn has done an absolutely killer job with the site, and JP, et al have done an amazing job of giving their time to make sure we have box scores almost every day (and if not every day, we, at the very least, get an email why not).
The fact that someone threw the 'fix is on' on the board in a joking manner, and that no one took it as anything but a joke except you two, is probably actually a good thing.
