Burgos will likely be unavailable ...

The Mets said Thursday they are withholding judgment, pending the results of police and internal investigations into circumstances involving their pitcher, Ambiorix Burgos, and a fatal accident in the Dominican Republic.

The 24-year-old native of the Dominican was, according to authorities there, driving an SUV when it slammed into two women who later died of their injuries. Local police were searching for Burgos, according to an Associated Press report.

... The crash is the latest trouble for Burgos, who was acquired by the Mets in December 2006. He was arrested last month in New York on assault and harassment charges after being accused of throwing his girlfriend to the ground. Police said the injured girlfriend was treated at a hospital and released. Prosecutors said Burgos appeared in court on those charges but did not enter a plea. He is due in U.S. court Oct. 23 and faces as much as a year in prison if he is convicted of the more serious misdemeanor assault charge.

I use the word likely because I do understand that Burgos is considered innocent until proven guilty - at least in the USA.

The Pirates are better, the Cubbies are better, the Astros are better, and the Brewers are better. It's gonna be a long, long year in the NLC next season.

As opposed to four teams winning like 40 games? :)

On the bright side, the Reds have nowhere to go but down.

Going to be tough to top 114, but trust me, I plan to be right in the thick of things. There are some things we need to work on, but the drop off shouldn't be too bad.
