Fighting off the injury bug all year, the IBC Yanks are starting to make a move in the AL Beast. Currently sporting a 6-game winning streak the IBC Yanks are back to within 7 games of super hot Toronto and only 1/2 game behind the suprising O's.

In the past six games, NYY rolled through Minnesota with a 4 game sweep that included a 17-inning nail biter and a 20-0 laugher. With Toronto now in town for perhaps the biggest series in the IBC to date NYY took game 1 behind a well pitched game from lefty ace Scott Kazmir. With Zambrano and Joba to follow, hopes are high for at least 1 more win and possibly the sweep.

Also news out of Atlanta today show that John Smoltz will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. That will certainly be a tough loss for Toronto to deal with going forward. AL east be warned, the Yanks are coming and won't be in third for much longer!
