Orioles Prospect Report - August 2025

From the August 5th BP article The Heat Check: King of the Hill:
Triple-A
Hot
Sal Stewart, 3B, Cincinnati Reds (Triple-A Louisville): .359 (14-39), 9 R, 6 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 4 BB, 2 K, SB.
Season Stats (Double-A, Triple-A): .305/.372/.494, 14 HR, 15 SB.
Since being drafted 32nd overall in 2022, Stewart has been a hit first prospect, posting a high average but lacking in terms of overall impact. That has changed in 2025 as the now 21-year-old has matured physically, adding strength to his compact swing. Singles have turned into doubles and long fly balls have begun to find their way out of the park. It has translated into career-best power numbers, with Stewart slugging .497 across two levels this year. With Ke’Bryan Hayes under contract for the near future in Cincinnati, third base is blocked. Stewart has seen some time recently at second but the cold corner is likely his ultimate defensive home and he could take over there next season if the Reds decide to move on from Spencer Steer.
Robby Snelling, LHP, Miami Marlins (Triple-A Jacksonville): 12.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 18 K.
Season Stats (Double-A, Triple-A): 3.26 ERA, 94 IP, 26 BB, 108 K.
The Marlins held off on moving two of the biggest trade pieces this deadline in Sandy Alcantara and Edward Cabrera, but the emergence of Snelling this season might make it easier for them to pull the trigger on a deal in the offseason. Two factors have contributed to Snelling’s success in 2025, an uptick in the fastball velocity and a tightening up of the overall command. He’s been especially tough on hitters during the second half of the season, allowing just six earned runs and posting a 31/5 K/BB ratio since July 1st.
Low-A
Hot
Caleb Bonemer, SS, Chicago White Sox (Low-A Kannapolis): .485 (16-33), 11 R, 6 2B, HR, 6 RBI, 7 BB, 4 K.
Season Stats (Low-A): .273/.397/.437, 8 HR, 23 SB.
We knew Bonemer had power potential prior to his being drafted 43rd overall in 2024 but he is showing as a professional that he does not need to sacrifice contact to get to the slug. He’s shown a good approach at Kannapolis, limiting the swing-and-miss and controlling the zone well. Bonemer might not have the defensive chops to stick at the six long term but the bat looks like it is more than capable of handling a slide down the defensive spectrum.
