Tiedemann was a nice pick. Surprised he lasted.

I've made seven picks and he was definitely the one I felt best about. Not terribly psyched about some of the others.

Fuuuck me. Nice pick, secret trade partner not named JP. Wanted Lizarraga. Orioles are probably finished drafting but not officially. Greg Bird, welcome to Baltimore! For now.

I am surprised he wasn't spite-picked earlier given how often he was signed and dropped last year.

Padres are overdue, and Orioles are up.

I don't think they officially declared they were done drafting.

Yeah, not trying to rush you but Padres are skipped and Orioles just made a draft pick trade. As noted here a couple of weeks ago, that means you are done drafting.

Can we discuss how we handle missed picks?

It seems to me if you miss a pick, you should own that. I've always hated that we've just allowed folks to pick their guy whenever they get around to it after they've held things up for 24 hours. If we are going to visit draft pick trading, can we please also visit this? There should be some kind of consequence for not making your selection in your 24 hour window - i.e. you forfeit that pick entirely or at least make them wait until the end of the round to make the pick.

I agree and we have actually said something like that before but I was going to raise setting a rule and actually enforcing it with Exco after the draft. I support not being able to make up the pick until after the current round. I would argue that you can actually put yourself in a favorable position by being skipped and getting to pick whenever you want (as games are being played this year especially). I think a recent argument against it on exco is that life can get in the way, so perhaps there is something creative that we can do in the 1st round to ensure that people don't miss that important pick and afterward have a legitimate consequence with the pick.

Life certainly can get in the way - and the fact we do not have an automated draft queue doesn't help - but missing in the 1st round is particularly egregious. Just seems to me there should be a consequence, at a minimum, to wait until the very end of the round.

I would also suggest housing all draft stuff in it's own forum section instead of within transactions.

Well we also used to have a queue...but that hasn't been around for a few years where you could be away and it would auto select.

I think we need something punitive at this point. The fact that this draft is going on while MILB games are occurring is an advantage to those who are skipped. The length of this draft has also made 5th round picks more valuable than 4th round picks which is a problem.

I second this.

Also is there a way to set things up to send out a leaguewide email each time a pick populates the draft thread? I know I've checked the board and then started doing something only to find out the pick I was waiting on got made 20 minutes after I checked and now it was 6-8 hours later.

I miss the draft queue with auto-pick set up. Understand this a programming logistic thing but it definitely made it more efficient.

Is the draft over, or are people just waiting for more rankings and results to come out? Let's wrap this thing up so people without remaining picks can add/ drop recent draftees.

Couple suggestions:

1. Start the draft earlier.

2. Make rounds 3-5 12 hours instead of 24 hours.

3. Call out your pick # when you're drafting.

We typically start the draft in February, but COVID and the lockout have prevented us from starting sooner in recent years.
