2022 Kansas City Royals with ZiPS

Post by Royals »

So, I took ownership of this team just about 10 months ago and I feel like I completely overhauled the team and made it my own. There are some trades that I made that I probably wish I could take back but also feel like I clearly won some others. Traded away guys like OF Kris Bryant,
SP Jake Odorizzi, OF Tommy Pham, C Shea Langelier, RP Brad Hand, SS Will Wilson, C Ryan Jeffers, SP Jackson Kowar and Manny Machado and two guys in Marco Gonzalez and Clayton Kershaw, that I traded for and then traded away.

I should be okay in the rotation and have some swing guys(Holton, Gilbert, Richan, Kelly) that could fill in if need be for a short time. I would like to upgrade over Miley or Desclafini if possible.

As for my bullpen, I think I am solid in the closer roll and have very good RH Setup guys. I have a few above average LH RP but would love to get one guy in the 125 ERA+ area. I would move one of my RH(May, Floro, Thompson) or 2 or 3 of my other guys to a team that needs more depth for that LH guy. ***UPDATE*** 1/11/22 Traded for Joely Rodriguez and his 140 ERA+

I feel my lineup should be able to produce, I was very happy with the projection for Anthony Rizzo. I would however, like to upgrade at 2B over Jean Segura or at 3B and I can move Eduardo Escobar to 2B. My other big need is a solid backup OF, preferably LH and one who can play all 3 spots.
**UPDATE** 1/9/22 Made a trade for Luis Urias, so Segura is to the bench for now

I have two solid, not spectacular catchers in Max Stassi and Christian Vazquez(who i am hoping bounces back this year) and a guy on my 40 man roster in Jaime Ritchie who will be fine as a back up if either go down.

I don't feel like I have a ton of top prospects but I do think that I have a few interesting guys that could potentially shoot up lists(Norge Vera, Yasel Antuna, Vaughn Grissom) along with some lower level guys that I like and of course my best trade chip, Max Meyer(who is available)!
