The MLB/PA deal is for the 2021 season and will include 7-inning Doubleheaders and the modified extra inning rules with runner starting on 2b. There is no universal DH that is currently part of the agreement.

Health and Safety protocol is completely separate from the DH concession. Both sides have long agreed on the H&S so they just decided to make it official while they still haggle about the DH, expanded playoffs, etc.

What's the point of the 7 inning double headers and runner on second for health and safety?

The biggest reason is that they are anticipating having to postpone games due to Covid positive tests, etc. with the possibility of playing 5-games series and such crammed together to maintain a full schedule. It's not like 6 less outs makes your team safer against the virus, but it means a lot when playing 5 games over 3 days.

Fair enough.

In an era where a lot changes quickly with an excuse of "because of Covid" is being used flagrantly, I have to question decisions. (like my child's daycare cutting their hours and claiming it's "because of Covid" when it's obvious they're doing it to cut down on the cost of staff but know they can do anything they want right now, claim it's "because of Covid" and not be held accountable)

Can they get rid of the dumbass runner on 2nd bullshit, while tinkering with game length for ease of doubleheader is meh, at least it doesn't really change how the game is played, though bullpen creativity seems less of an issue.

Can we be proactive and add the DH? Please?

I was surprisingly fine with it for the regular season but I hope they dump it for the playoffs, kinda like hockey having shootouts in the regular season but maintaining proper overtime for the Stanley Cup.
