Playoff injuries...our favorite topic!

Couple additions to the injury list with IBC playoff implications:

Adam Eaton (PHI) broken left index finger. From MLBTR: "With the Nationals at 18-29 and in no position to defend their 2019 World Series championship, this injury will end the season for Eaton." A broken finger may have done that anyway, but we can discuss.

Austin Meadows (LAA) strained oblique. Also MLBTR: "The Rays announced that they’ve placed outfielder Austin Meadows on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 2 left oblique strain....We may have seen the last of Meadows in 2020 because of this injury, as oblique strains have been known to keep players out for several weeks." The Rays will make the playoffs, so him being/not being on an ALDS roster will help sort things out some.

Another factor this year that may help exco is the expanded playoff format. I'm hoping it will help sort out injury questions we would normally wrestle with. At this point, I would vote both out for the playoffs, but we can circle back in a week.

Both players were placed on the IL. They are both unquestionably out.

Howie Kendrick (hamstring) has been shut down for the remainder of the season.
Doctors have told Kendrick that he could aggravate his left hamstring issue by pushing it, and with the Nationals out of the playoff hunt it doesn't make sense for him to try to make it back. There's a $6.5 mutual option (or $2.25 million buyout) on the 37-year-old for 2021, although he said he hasn't decided yet whether he'll keep playing or retire.

Nothing to suggest Kendrick should be benched. He could aggravate an injury - seems to me that's not really good enough to shut a guy down.
