Post by Cardinals »

We've seen Jake (A's) , and with the 2008 IBC Season set to start for the whole league in 5 days, and for Bren and Jake whenever they get to play H2H, lets see everybody's predictions for the playoffs, various awards if you'd like too, etc.

The "Say it ain't so" award (Least output from highest ceiling): Rich Harden, who shuts 'er down 3 weeks into April, leading JP to rebuild again and swear off pussy pitchers and premature celebration forever.

That'll be a good trick since there is no MLB Cy Young award.

I've sim'ed a few seasons so far, and you could throw a blanket over the AL Central. Through 5 seasons, I think there's been 5 different winners with 4 different last place teams.

I was in class and typing with brevity. I meant he will win a Cy Young in the MLB this year, the AL Cy Young winner. Though he may just be so dominant that they do invent the MLB Cy Young award winner just for him.

Regardless. Predictions people!

Liriano and Harden will both get injured and miss the end of the season.
Hank Steinbrenner will continue to be a source of amusement.
Roger Clemens will throw Kody, Kolby, Kelsey, Kelly and Kharlie under the bus next before finally admitting, sobbingly on television, that the hgh was for his dog named Kat.

For one thing I think that JB is going to win 110+. His pitching is out of control.

Despite a lot of strong seasons in my early sims from Minnesota and Cleveland I'm going to pick the best roster in the Central, KC.

I was going to pick Seattle to win the West, but with some of Jake's pick-ups of the one-year wonders (DiFelice in particular is easily a #2 starter in this sim and Hammock is an upper tier catcher) I may have to re-evaluate. I'll go ahead and stick with Seattle for now. In the sims I've run this is easily the worst division this season.

Despite losing Bonds and having some other injury issues I still like Toronto to have a pretty big season. However I'm picking Boston for the WC.

In the NL, I like Florida in the East, Cincy in the Central, and I think I'm going to go LAD in the West, though that's a tough division to call. I think that Philly, Pittsburgh, Colorado and St Louis will be right there for the WC. I'll go ahead and pick the Pirates, though the 3 and 4 spots in his roto have taken hits with Escobar's injury and Perez' projection.

For IBC awards:

AL Cy Young: Joba Chamberlain
NL Cy Young: Rich Harden

Frankly, I think it would take an injury or fluke for either of these guys not to win.

AL MVP: I guess I'll go with Pujols. Watch out for Chipper though.
NL MVP: David Ortiz

I don't know how we award ROY, but if they are by mlb eligible rookies, it's gotta be the two guys who were traded for each other last summer, Joba and Jay Bruce.

Well it looks like almost nobody was right. I don't think anybody, all three or four people that actually picked here, had the Jays in the playoffs let alone the World Series.

Shawn was correct that I'd end up rebuilding again though.

Looks like I almost picked Toronto and Oakland to make it. Oh well.
