I have a lot of dislike for Bud Selig, I think most of it is fairly justified. But as much as I dislike him, he is nothing... NOTHING... compared to the vile insanity that is the MLBPA...

Collusion to keep Bonds out of a job?! They are FUCKING CRACKED! Gee, why wouldn't a team want to hire a 45 yr old cheater facing federal perjury charges... oh, who also happens to be one of the single most unpopular athletes in the sport. Gosh... I can't imagine...
Donald Fehr, do us all a favor, go out and buy yourself a clue... and on your way there, step in front of a speeding bus!

If anything they should investigate why he has Scott Boras as an agent if he wants to work.

No one is going to give Bonds a Clemens type deal, and Barry's ego won't let him work for what Slammin Sammy got last season.

If I'm a GM, and I look at the combination of Bonds & Boras, a 1.200 OPS isn't worth the hassle....especially not for even $10M.

Which would bring up a good poll......if you're a GM of a team that is very competitive, but one LH bat away from being dominant, at what price would you take Bonds?

$12M
$9M
$6M
$3M
Minor League deal
Never take him.

$12 million, The Cubs haven't won a world series in 100 years, they need to do whatever it takes. Adding the best hitter in baseball would make it more likely.

If I were a GM I think $3M with performance bonuses that could take him to the $5m-$6m range would be the most I would go. He's just too big of a liability (both on the field and off). That would only be in the AL though....if I were in the NL I don't think I'd touch him...

I'd think he'd need a contract that is based on AB's. (including walks).

No way I give him a salary, and then he only get up to the plate 200 times because of injuries and court dates.

The court dates aren't going to be an issue. The bigger question is who wants the distraction? Bonds has seemingly gone out of his way to create enough negatives to outweigh the positives of bringing him in. That being said, I don't think he's beyond taking a Sammy Sosa deal, I also don't think anyone has the balls to offer it to him. John, Bonds' agent isn't Boras, its Jeff Borris, whose other clients on the market are Jeff Cirillo, Tony Graffanino, and Jay Witasick. I think a better question would be why Bonds DIDN'T have Boras as his agent, he could get him signed to the Tigers to platoon with Sheff or something similar.
