Apologies on the short notice, but DMB has started releasing some information earlier than they have in past years so we're going to start the Signing Freeze effective now. The Freeze will end 24 hours after the distribution of the projection disk (should be this Wednesday) with all Free Agents going on Waivers at that point.

It's been asked if anyone has a huge issue with the timing of the end of the freeze. Whie no time is going to be perfect, if a lot of people are going to be unavailable we can shift it.

It should be 24 hours after the migration has occured, and everyone in the league has been provided with an updated database.

I think that's fair.

GM's in this league who do not get the projection until it's migrated and sent out will be at an unfair advantage to GM's claiming guys based on having access to the projection.

In order to ensure that all GM's have equal opportunity to signing sim stars, I would suggest that the projection be sent out to all GM's...preferably after migration...giving all GM's equal access to research and claim free agents.

I guess the other question is how long waivers last after the projection release?

If we have waivers for an extended period of time, I guess that would give all GM's ample opportunity to get access to the projections.

For someone who thinks that having access to daily DB's will gain him 3-4 wins a season, you don't seem to have a great grasp on how the projections works...

At some point on Wednesday, Diamond Mind will email out the projection disk to all the customers who pre-ordered it.
Once we get it, we will send that disk out to everyone in the league. Everyone will then have access to all the statistical projections for all the players in the league.
24 hours later, the signing freeze will end, with all free agents going on waivers. Waivers last 24 hours, during which time GM's can claim any players they want, with the GM who has highest waiver priority getting that player.

Migration is completely meaningless to this process.

I have a perfectly good grasp on who the projection works.

What I don't understand it the ineffective means of communicating to the league members, and why I always have to ask for the process to be explained.

I wasn't assuming that the projection would automatically be forwarded to the whole league once it was released, nor was that made clear until now.

Even though this is my 3rd year in the league, I don't remember how every league operates, hence the reason I asked for clarification. The dick response wasn't necessary, but also has come to be expected by now.


Here's one of those "how I do it in the leagues that I commish" comments.

Step 1: recieve projection
Step 2: migrate all players, add created players who have made the disc.
Step 3: email the updated DB out to the league
Step 4: give the league 2-4 days to submit waiver claims
Step 5: process waiver claims, and resend database.

I know it's different in different leagues, but the communication could be a little more efficient in my opinion. That's why I'm asking a million questions. I'm just asking questions that a lot of GM's have, but don't want to be belittled for asking.


And migrating does have an impact. It shows teams who they have on their roster, assuming they don't have them memorized, and allows teams to see who is a free agent, without having to flip back and forth between the OOPPS. Unless I'm missing something there too, it makes migration far from meaningless, and more of a "not going to listen to reason, deal with it/if you don't like it leave/it's my ball and I'm going home" kinda arguement.

I think the confusion was that it wasn't made clear if "24 hours after the distribution of the projection disk" was from DMB to whoever bought it, or to the whole league.

I'll assume the whole league understood what you meant, and I'm an idiot for having a habit of not assuming.

I'll agree that I shouldn't have posted that particular comment here. In this context I am distributing information as a member of the ExCo, so the joke/shot wasn't appropriate and I apologize for that.

Regarding migration:
Migration will take a pretty fair amount of time, not counting the double-checking of rosters by every team in the league. Waiting until that's done is not expedient since it will tie up the league longer, nor is it really necessary. Is it helpful to have every player on their team first, certainly. Is it necessary? Not at all.

However, if anyone would like to help expedite the process, drop me a line and I can get you started on that.

If I didn't have 2 leagues to do myself before Friday, I'd be happy to help. Maybe next year.

I think it'll be a lot easier with the use of OOPPS for roster reference.

When I do it, I have to print each team's roster, and then compare & circle every player that's missing post-migration. It's kinda time consuming, usually takes a good 2 hours or so. Haven't found a more efficient way to do it yet.

So we're not gonna have a DB before FA opens? If I'm really really lucky, my proj. order from DMB will be sent by email before players go on waivers, but even then I'd have to parse through all the guys on teams to find those I want to submit as waiver claims. We haven't encountered this kind of time crunch w/ projections in prior seasons, so maybe it's appropriate to give a little time for everyone to get their hands on the projection disk. Maybe its just me since I've been offline for a week+.

You will. FA doesn't open until we send out the migrated database (players not in the sim prior to this projection disk won't be on their correct teams though).

There WILL be a partially migrated DB befor FA opens.
However, you don't NEED a migrated DB before FA opens, all you need are the projection stats.

Gotcha. My bad. I should read all the posts.

Goes to an important point, as you think about your waiver claims, especially if its a guy you really want, DOUBLE CHECK OOPSS. I got burned last year because Jose Cruz Jr. was an FA in the DB but was actually Giants property. If you aren't sure, double check.

In other words, have the database open in one window, the player list in the other.....

Do we claim guys through OOPPS...also how long do we have to correct rosters if claims are successful?

Here's a quick question - I believe last year someone took the DMB projections and exported them to an Excel file that got sent to the league - is that something that's happening again this year or not?

I only ask because that made it mega-awesome-easy to check projections while at work and away from any sort of DMB access. I don't even know if or how big a pain in the ass it is.

Thanks Shawn. Will you be able to post the defensive range projections? I think where they rate a player defensively will make a difference too.

I don't have the system setup for ratings yet and don't think I can get that done before waivers are over or you're at home anyways.
