The latest Edward Salcedo rumor rush got me thinking about a quirk I noticed in the rules, obviously since its now 2008 if Salcedo were to sign he would have to be drafted next year, but could he have been drafted this year and kept if had signed before Opening Day?

with international signings don't we go by calendar year?

Yea, we need to clarify the international rules again and get them in the rewriting of the rules that I tried to push when ExCo formed but didn't really get much support.

I believe it's already in the rules. I checked as I was interested in Salcedo.
