The idea of legitimizing a practice just because people are going to do it anyways is NOT a valid reason for changing a rule IMO.

I agree - but in this case "legitimizing a practice just because people are going to do it" is not the only reason to implement the new requested rule. In fact it is not even a reason I considered when deciding on how to vote on this particular issue and whether or it is appropriate to implement now.
Likewise, I would point out that it is
not valid to not implement a practice
now just it was not your idea nor is it it the way it was done in past ... It is , however, a lousy reason not to do it.

I agree (mostly). Those aren't why I'm voting against it.

One other thing...
The whole September/October trading thing was MY idea in the first place!

And yet you vote against your own idea even though the league wants it. And everybody else in ExCo besides you and Jake. Makes sense!!!

Its been like that for 6 years JP, are you really that surprised?

I mean - Bren - you still haven't given A reason. Not one. You keep arguing in circles.
Give a reason - just one goddamn reason and you're off the hook - or just say "I have way too much pride to agree to do something that - though for the betterment of the league - I oppose."

And when i proposed it, i wanted it for 2008.
Why do I want it for 2008?
Because I don't think we should be enacting rules during the season that come into effect partway through a season unless they are done to correct a new and/or pressing problem. This is not the case here.

Bren, sorry to compare you to him (I'm sure you are more insulted by this than the references to Hitler), but you are really sounding like George W. with this. Not to say it's an error to be fixed, but he doesn't want to take troops out of Iraq even though the majority of the people in the country he is supposed to be representing want it to happen. His explanation (which sounds eerily like yours) is that he knows better and is making the right decision for the country as a whole and that we should just trust him.
Sorry to all for bringing politics into this, and yes I know it's not an exact comparison, but I just find it funny how similar Bren is sounding in this thread to our fearless leader...

If I was Commish, you might be right. But I'm not. I'm one vote of 6. One vote who voted in FAVOR of allowing the trading... starting after this season. My goodness, what a horrible thing to do, to ask that folks wait...

Why do you want us to wait? Your only reasoning is "I just don't feel like right it right now." That's not a reason.
You have still yet to give ONE reason why you do not want this enacted now.

And you have yet to pay attention... not surprising from the guy who thought I was in favor of allowing trading this season.
The vote has been done, get over it and find something else to do with your time.

I'm not worried about this season - I saw the post, 2008, yada yada yada.
Realizing I fought a losing battle for this year, I just still want to understand your reasoning for not enacting it this season. And if it's just, "Because I feel like it's not right," then just say that.
I understand that I may be annoying you and some other people, but all I want is a straight answer from you. The more you duck the question, the more I'm just gonna keep asking for an answer. I gave you a chance to do it today in private and you blocked me twice. So now I'm just going to keep pushing you publicly.
If you think I'm going to just go away at some point you're sadlly misinformed. I carried a 50 lb. box of basketballs from Caesar's Palace to the back conference room of the Wynn in 107 degree heat because a co-worker told me I couldn't.

And I did a Half-Ironman in 97degree heat just to prove I could (including a 1.2mile swim doing the breast stroke).

Impressive, but you had been training for it. I hadn't touched a weight since college.
