If 'Cardinal Nation' was so large, ESPN would pander to you guys more as a larger fan base. But you aren't so they won't. If you don't like it, don't watch them (Most of the shows on ESPN suck sweaty donkey ass-crack anyhow)

It cant be called Cardinal Nation if you only reach 1/5 of the US. RedSox Nation is in all 50 States and all over the World.

Okay dingbat, I was stating the states that the Cardinals have radio and television rights in

one other thing... saying the Cards should've won 3 WS in a row is flat out ridiculous. The Cardinals got wiped out in 2004. And the Astros put a good stomp on them in 2005 in the NLCS.

This is no joke - but after heavy thinking, I think the best case scenario for this, as a Yankee fan, is for the Sox to ignore Lowell to go after A-Rod...it would just make me feel better about the fact that my team has no allegiance to have the Sox be in the same boat...
How have we NOT talked to Posada, Mo's, and Pettitte's agents? How many f'ing hours in a day does Boras take up, especially when he's not actually negotiating...

I still think pettite goes to Houston or retires. Just a gut feeling.
No way Posada or Mariano go elsewhere (though the prospect of that happening probably makes Yankee fans queasy).
The Sox won't take A-rod unless he takes a big paycut and that isn't gonna happen.

The Cheat from the South Side Sox explained it perfectly:
Only Scott Boras, Scott Boras representing Alex Rodriguez, could be so self-important as to feel the need to make the foregone conclusion of the A-Rod opt-out official with an announcement fed to the press during game four of the World Series. Nobody is surprised that another Boras client is looking for his two-in-the-bush. I fail to see the need for an announcement. During the World Series. Even if it was the least exciting post-season in history. Those two deserve each other.

Lowell to the Yanks
Pettite to the Mets
Posada to the Yanks
Rivera to the Yanks
A-Rod to the Angels
Crisp to the Padres
Hunter to the Nats (cause that's how Jim Bowden rolls)
Cameron to the Braves
Andru to the Reds (cause they think they can win with 6 OF and 2 SP)

I think Crisp is going to the South Side of Chicago ...
One Yankee Fan's thoughts ...

The timing of Alex Rodriguez's decision to opt out of his $252 million contract, delivering his own version of shock and awe, tells you everything you need to know about the man, if not confirms everything we always suspected: that he doesn't care one bit about the Yankees or winning championships here or New York City or Yankee fans or, for that matter, Major League Baseball.
... To the very end, A-Rod cared about what was good for A-Rod and nothing else. To hell with collateral damage. A guy who, in his own mind, which often appears as detached from reality as the Bronx is from Iowa, is bigger than everything put together to simply give a hoot.
... A-Rod knew he was bolting as far back as spring training, when he kept evading all those questions on the subject. And he knew it all those times when he said how much he loved being here. And he knew it the day he hit his 500th homer and let slip out that little thing about a "happy ending." And he it knew before, during, and after another of his ugly postseasons.
I'm convinced of that.
Yet, before late Sunday night, he continued to play the game of being someone who desperately wanted to stay a Yankee for the rest of his career.
Which means you can now add "liar" to "loser" on his resume.
...
We smelled the scent of the interloper-just-passing-through in him all along the way, the money-groping opportunist, the me-me-me self-absorption. [My emphasis]
He used his time here, it seems, only as a way to elevate his celebrity and bolster his stats and now to fatten his wallet to an even more egregious degree to expand on his record of being the highest paid player in the game.
That's what seems most important to A-Rod: the personal things, of which he'll add an MVP trophy in just a matter of weeks.
... And knowing what we know now about him, what we always felt about him in our hearts and souls, what he confirmed for us Sunday night, it's not a question of whether he left too soon but that he didn't leave soon enough.

Ah, yes.
We (fans in Seattle) have seen this same song and dance routine before. How eerily similar the words, phrases.....throughout the season followed by the parting sprint for the Free Agent line.
Yes, Slappy has always and will always be all about one thing. He's not about team, he's not about winning, he's not about any of those things that makes you fall in love with "the game".
He's all about "A-Rod"......always has been and always will be.
He's a perfect match with Borass.
I pity the next team, that makes a deal with the devil and has to suffer the curse of Slappy.

Think it's just a coincidence that Preston is in the Dodgers system? What a great pick for the Dodgers...they must have been thinking ahead!

In other news, word on the street is that Yankees' hitting-instructor Kevin Long will also follow Joe Torre and Donnie Baseball to the Dodgers.
What an absolute mess the Yankees are turning into... and please for the love of god do not go after Miguel Cabrera and empty the farm system.

doesn't that sound just like something they would do, though? it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Since I was too young to watch George wreck the team when he first took control, I am absolutely relishing this opportunity to watch history repeat itself.

I would take A-Rod if he would agree that for an extra $3 mil per season he would graciously and silently bat below sixth in the order in the postseason, without uttering so much as a peep if he is benched. Oh, and also he would have to stop putting on purple lipstick every day.

This was posted in another league but I figured I'd throw it out here too.
WEEI in Boston is reporting the Sox may send Coco Crisp, Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz to the Twins for Johan Santana.
SCARY.

Isn't Santana a free agent after next year? That doesn't make sense.
