Royals in Need of Pitching
This discussion always comes down to how many prospects can we each horde on our rosters. As noted above the 60 day DL issue isn't a matter of making a decision to drop an Adam Wainwright or Ryu.....we are again talking about the 39th and 40th roster spots on our team.
We already are hording 16 year old prospects down to the short season level.........I mean really. I love my prospects as much as anyone and probably overvalue them as much as, or more than anyone however adding more roster spots just so we can horde more is ridiculous, IMO. We've already put a huge damper on the free agent market in this league and expanding rosters even more will only kill it more.
I think we should keep rosters the size they are. It is good to have to make a tough decision to cut a decent prospect or more likely a prospect we like more than everyone else. It helps to feed the free agent market throughout the season so bad teams can have a random chance to pick up a decent prospect from time to time.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree with this. Expanding rosters would just make it harder to find a warm body that has a projection on the FA list for when these injuries do occur.Mariners wrote:This discussion always comes down to how many prospects can we each horde on our rosters. I don't see what the point is, then. Having a 60-day DL isn't helping stash Mesoraco or Wainwright. It's allowing me to stash player #39, 40 from my team.
If you had the 60-day DL spot, you wouldn't have to cut anybody. And it's only going to make the talent available on waivers even thinner than it already is.

I believe you recently benefited from my injury misfortune actually, lol. I had to release Tyler Wade (who I really do think will be a starting MLB SS) in order to get Cody Stanley, who will probably never be a MLB regular, because Zunino was wearing down starting every day. (not criticizing you at all, just pointing out how misfortune allows for some player movement in the FA market, which helps keep the league active)
Yea, I know Avila is on the 15 day DL, but I have had Jose Fernandez stashed for a while taking up a spot. It happens, we all deal with it, but it would suck for teams to hoard pitchers and make competitive teams pay out the ass for arms when the injury bug bites them.
Hey, you can cut Wade so that I can take him back once I'm able to cut Stanley!

Well sure Nick, every time I check in on anything baseball, it's a balance act, just as I am sure it is for you and 99% of the league. I meant no slight on the league, I'm just honestly happy I know our general direction, so I'll have no illusions it could change.
It's all good Nick. I'll be around for as long as I can imagine. I do hope one day I am fulfilling my dreams, which would make little time for 'fake' baseball be it this format, or any other.
The IBC has been a wonderful thing in my life, and I have no plans to retire, but I am truly happy to know it's limits.

I wasn't asking anyone to vote.. It was just an idea to talk about that kind of popped up on the fly, because I know my man Gudim and I are both kind of in the same boat at this point in time dealing with pitching injuries and lack of depth. We tried completing a trade and issues of depth came up - not being able to move pitcher A, because he's been forced into the rotation/pen because depth is getting killed right now.
I really didn't mean to turn it into a heated debate. Jason, apologies for hijacking your thread.
