I had forgotten about Greg Miller. I used him as a LOOGY on my team in 2007 and he was decent for his role. But he never could get his control down.

Shaun Boyd, not because I thought he would work out, because he clearly had bust written all over him. Shaun Boyd because Jocketty drafted him to be the 2b of the future when Utley was still on the board

As a Cubs fan - Patterson, Pie and Hae-Seop Choi. I thought Choi would be banging 30 jacks a year with a high walk rate til 2020.

Let's throw Alex Reyes into this discussion. I remember watching him in Philly with JP and Nick behind the first base dugout in 2016 and he was dominant. Could've traded him for pretty much anyone in baseball. And he we are 3 seasons later and he's a 25 year old in AAA that can't stay healthy enough to get called up.

Let me go through some Mets prospects:

Generation K (Paul Wilson, Jason Isringhausen, Bill Pulsipher)
Fernando Martinez (the teenage hitting machine)
Lastings Milledge
Alex Escobar (traded for Alomar Jr)
Ike Davis (though he was productive before getting valley fever, etc)
Mike Pelfrey (although I never liked him when he was picked as his ceiling profile was Jason Schmidt at the time)

Milledge is up there for sure. I thought he was going to be awesome.

Brandon Wood is another guy I thought was going to be awesome. At one point in time, I had Braun, Tulowitzki and Wood. I always thought Braun was the safest bet of the three, but really thought Wood was a cornerstone player at the time too.

I'm not sure you can call him a bust because he's had a successful-ish career, but Matt Wieters not turning into a generational type talent was a bit surprising to me.

Mark Appel and Bubba Starling are two pretty big ones too.

Ian Stewart, hit 54 HR's in his first 1120 AB's (w/ solid OBP) BEFORE the age of 26, then fell off the face of the planet.

Traded up for Mark Appel thinking he was going to be a beast. Alas...

Bubba was the centerpiece of my rebuild. At least he finally made it to the majors but man.

And yeah I remember reading an SI cover story on Wieters at the barber shop and couldn't wait to watch him.

Not quite a prospect who bombed, but I really thought Desmond Jennings was going to be a superstar. He had that great speed/power combo and had a couple nice seasons, but could never hit enough and then he got wrecked by injuries. He's still only 33, but hasn't played in the bigs since 2016.
