The Marlins announced Thursday that RHP Josh Johnson will undergo season-ending elbow surgery.
It's unknown yet if Johnson will undergo Tommy John surgery or another procedure, but the former would knock him out for most of 2008. "He is going to undergo surgery," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "I haven't heard what kind of surgery is it." Johnson, who finished fourth in last year's Rookie of the Year balloting, began experiencing arm problems last September and went 0-3 with a 7.47 ERA this season after beginning the year on the disabled list.
