He was signed in July 2016, so he would have been eligible for our 2017 draft, therefore he's a 2017 signing. Had he been eligible for our 2016 draft (if he signed before February 2016), he would have been a 2016 signing.
If a player is signed in '16, he is part of our 2016 draft, even though we held it in February of 2017.

When a guy signs in 2018, he will be part of our 2018 draft, even though we hold it February 2019.
