Trade Issue

Post by Royals »

There seems to have developed a very annoying habit among GM's lately. The habit is where GM's don't bother sending an email, IM or PM about a trade, they just submit the offer through OOPSS. get these offers fairly often and they're always pure crap. They're not bad offers, they terrible offers. For instance, I was recently offered a very low first rounder and a 4th rounder for the #18 pick.
I won't point out who made this awful offer, but in the future I will. Anyone who makes these stupid OOPSS only trade offers is going to have it posted publicly and have the offer mocked and insulted for the joke that it is. This is your only warning.
If you want to talk trade, send me a message, don't make some stupid offer through OOPSS.

You must be the only one getting those annoying offers Bren. Nobody sent me any OOPSS trade offers for my #17 pick without chatting with me first.

Better yet ... it sounds like no one sent you any annoying offers!

I didn't get any "annoying" offers, that would be correct.

That was me. I thought I sent a PM with it that would have explained it (I was looking at adding a player), oh well must not have sent it correctly, shit happens.

This isn't a matter of just the 18, that was simply an example. I get these types of offers fairly often (and I know I'm not the only one who gets them) and they're always terrible offers.

So what? You click delete, chuckle to yourself at the other GM's naiveties, and move on with your life. Five seconds out of your day.

Seriously. What's wrong with doing that? I don't see a problem here. I agree with the GM from Austin Texas.

i certainly have never gotten these or offered them, but i certainly have thought about doing it because sometimes it takes 2 or 3 days for GMs to even respond with a yes or no or a counter offer. So sending a random trade with someone its not as easy to contact is easier.

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

I told a GM i'd trade a player for a pick.

When I went to trade offers, I saw an offer of a pick for the same player....not realizing it was a completely different team offering a worse pick for that player, I clicked accept. Shortly there after, I realized I accepted a trade I would not have accepted, and lost 20 draft spots because of it.

Confused?
2008-2023 Mets: 1,143-1,296...469%
2006-2008 Rockies: 242-244...498%

IBC Total: 1,385-1,540...474%
2022: lost WC
2023: lost WC
2024: 1st NL East; lost WC

Some GM's don't even respond to emails, at least when you put an offer on OOPSS, they eventually get rejected, hence you know that GM is alive.

I know at least 4-5 GM's that are HORRIBLE at returning emails, yet they have no problem rejecting OOPSS offers.

I prefer to send both an email and OOPSS offer, afterall, how the hec can I 'sell' a player if I'm not emailing with the 'juicy facts' at the same time?

But, I'm sure thrilled to have the OOPSS only option for those GM's that are too busy/rude to return emails.

1. I don't like them. I don't need a reason. Thus, this post in my blog saying "Don't send them to me"

2. See John's post. I heard about his situation and I've certainly misclicked other stuff in the past and don't want tog et stuck with some shitty-ass trade because someone is too lazy to send me an email, IM or PM.
