I generally agree, but as was observed earlier, right now if your team isn't going to compete for a playoff spot there isn't any incentive to try to win games. There's incentive to make the playoffs, where anything can happen, and there's incentive to get the highest draft pick possible. Adding sandwich picks adds additional (possibly escalating) tiers of incentives for winning.Rockies wrote:I get that there should be an incentive to compete.. Personally, when JP first asked me about the idea, I didn't like it. But he's right about the problem with teams not having a reason to win outside of the playoff contenders and I can't think of a better solution or incentive. I think it's worth trying on a temporary basis and seeing how it goes.
