TRC

Post by Cardinals »

I think the TRC has seen its day. If they won't even protect new GMs, I think it's time to remove them from the process and have trades processed immediately.

If members of the league want to protest a deal, such as this Votto one which should be protested, then they can do that after the fact.

I think trade challenge, league vote (maybe a different threshold?), possibly appeal to exco likely serves this league just as well as a TRC. My opinion is based primarily from when I was on it, but I think it's very difficult for it to serve as intended in our league. Ken's comment about why he upheld that trade is a good example but certainly not the only reason.

I'm speaking off the top of my head on this, but maybe the way to go about it is to announce something during the season but let it run for this year, then disband at the end of the season? That way it's not quite as insulting to the guys currently on it.

Is someone going to ask for a league vote on this one, by the way? It's really terrible to me.

I agree with BP's sentiment about not blowing it up halfway through the season that appears like a knee-jerk reaction to one trade (as if "you guys didn't do your job so we don't need you"). I would suggest shelving it for the rest of 2017 and setting up a league vote after the Tigers' World Series parade. There's no real benefit to doing it now unless you think a large number of bad deals are going to go through between May and August. There's no reason to think that will be the case. And the TRC members who are volunteering in this capacity are long-standing members who provide value to the league.
