Jimmy Paredes has signed a one-year contract with the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan.

The deal is worth $1.2 million, according to the Japan Times. Paredes was outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster in October after struggling to the tune of a .222/.253/.367 batting line in 83 games at the major league level in 2016. He did have some success with the Orioles in 2015, but the 28-year-old utilityman wasn't going to find anything more than a non-guaranteed minor league contract in North America.

RHP Jorge Rondon has signed with Japan's Chunichi Dragons.

The White Sox released him from his minor league contract so he could go play overseas. The 28-year-old appeared in two games for the Pirates last season but spent most of the year with their Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis. Rondon made his big league debut with St. Louis in 2014.

Andy Burns has agreed to a one-year contract with the Lotte Giants in South Korea.

Burns made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays in 2016, but the 26-year-old infielder went hitless in seven plate appearances and was outrighted off Toronto's roster in December. He'll get a salary of $650,000 in the Korea Baseball Organization -- much more than he would have been able to guarantee himself in North America.

Jim you missed one!

The Kochi Fighting Dogs of the Shikoku Island League Plus in Japan announced Sunday that they had signed former MLB 12-time All-Star Manny Ramirez.

The Shikoku Island League Plus is independent baseball and in no way associated with Nippon Professional Baseball. Ramirez last appeared in the big leagues in 2011, where he appeared in five games with the Rays. He last played professionally as a player-coach for the Cubs at Triple-A Iowa in 2014. It sounds as though the 44-year-old slugger is doing this simply out of his love for the game of baseball and desire to continue competing at any level. Jan 8 - 11:00 PM

San Kang of Sports Donga reports that Alexi Ogando has signed with the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean Baseball Organization.

Ogando, 33, held a 3.94 ERA and 29/23 K/BB ratio over 32 relief innings for the Braves last season. He really hasn't been the same pitcher the last few years following some injury issues.

Jeeho Yoo of Yonhap News reports that Dae-Ho Lee has signed a four-year, $12.9 million contract with Korea's Lotte Giants.

It's the club he began his career with overseas before he played a few years in Japan and last season with the Mariners. Lee didn't embarrass himself in the majors with a .253/.312/.428 batting line and 14 homers, but it turned out to just be a one-year stint for the big first baseman.

Bambino Sedano, the agent for Ramiro Pena, confirmed Sunday that his client will sign with the Hiroshima Carp in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.

The 31-year-old spent the 2016 season in the Giants' organization, slashing .299/.330/.425 with a homer and 10 RBI in 91 plate appearances at the big league level.

Carlos Villanueva has signed a $1.5 million contract with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Villanueva was unable to net a contract that he liked with a major league club after posting a 5.96 ERA for the Padres last season. The 33-year-old will be teammates with Alexi Ogando and Wilin Rosario with Hanwha.

Yonhap News Agency reports that Darin Ruf has signed a $1.1 million contract with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization.

Ruf was acquired by the Dodgers from the Phillies in the Howie Kendrick deal over the offseason, but they've let him head overseas for a nice little raise. The Dodgers' signing of Franklin Gutierrez lessened their need to have a lefty masher like Ruf.
