Twins/Aaron

Post by Cardinals »

Aaron would like to know if he can play H2H with the Twins while he runs the team.

I do not think he should be allowed to make trades, and I'm even dicey on add/drops.

Did we ever announce officially that he's running the team? I may have missed that, though I know it was discussed as a possibility.

I think he should manage the team, meaning he makes sure lineups are set, injuries are taken care of and maybe picks up guys to fill roster spots, but no trades. I don't think he needs to play H2H, honestly. I think he should be there to make sure the team is running while the league figures out what to do with it.

Yeah, he's running it in the short-term at least, but long-term we haven't figured out yet.

I didn't catch that he was running it either but seems like a good move. I don't have a strong feeling on H2H but my vote would be same as Pat, no need for him to play H2H. Just need lineups and injuries kept up to date. No trades and I would limit add-drops to instances where it's needed for the team. If he is iffy on a drop, he could run it by some of us.

Yea h2h is completely unnecessary imo. Team is basically in limbo until we find a worthy GM.

I think we need to get a GM in to run the Twins. This is a team that is built to win in 2016 and the near-future, and I don't think we're honoring Andrew's memory by letting Aaron submit MPs all year, without the ability to even make moves. I don't want to give any current GM the ability to make moves, either.

Also, Aaron has played McCullers and Lowrie on the DL for the Twins so far this season. That's also bad.

I agree we need to find someone. It's pretty obvious that this is a playoff team and it's currently in 4th place in the division and that doesn't seem right.

I can ask my friend Ryan to see if he has any interest. JP, I think, has a coworker who may be interested. Any other potentials?

Lastly, I recall some talk about potentially letting someone already in the league "switch" rosters to take over the Twins. Did that ever have any discussion?

On the last part, I don't think we'd ever want to have any type of franchise or roster swap mid-season. I think that's unnecessary.

After the season, I think it's fair to offer the Twins to Gudim, since he's a Twins fan, but with his own roster -- just like any other franchise swap we've done in the past.

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting a mid-season swap at all. Post-season, no problem, if Gudim wanted to move into that city.

Just as another part of this overall discussion on rosters I recalled talk about someone (ie: Aaron) literally taking over the Twins and leaving behind his old Cardinals roster. That may have just been a gchat discussion at some point around when this all happened. I just didn't know if anyone had any thoughts about that as we sort out this whole thing

I don't have any prospects but agree we need to get someone in there soon.

So my friend from work who is pretty bright and really into baseball, follows prospects, etc. is game for taking over the Twins.

I explained the circumstance to him, as well as the fact that he wouldn't be Minnesota after this year.

Do we have any objections to bringing him in?

I would like to see his standard "why I want to join the IBC/background as a baseball fan" statement that new people usually submit.

I also have my friend Ryan, who was I guess considered with Walter for the Marlins. He wasn't interested in the Twins due to the circumstances, but I think he would really enjoy having a team, which would get us back to full strength (though that team has fewer assets now).

Sure, I'll have him type something up.
