NFL Offseason

Well, my office has imploded as people alternate between panicking and trying to convince themselves that losing Osweiler wasn't a huge blow to the Broncos future. Sometimes doing both in the same sentence. Nobody has done any work in several hours.
Personally, I was looking forward to the Osweiler era. I'm a Patriots fan first, but as a displaced fan I like to root for the home team as well when it doesn't go against the Pats' interests (the Bengals were fun to root for, if hopeless). But since I refused to root for a team led by either Tebow or Manning it has been a while and I was looking forward to enjoying rooting for the Broncos. Now though, my gut tells me they're going to end up with RGIII and I just couldn't stomach cheering for him either. Kaepernick wouldn't be so bad and I'd enjoy rooting for Fitzgerald, but my instincts say it will be Griffin.
Houston was a halfway competent (and healthy) QB away from being a pretty dangerous team last year, they'll be interesting to watch in 2016.

I have to admit it freaks me out a little that the Raiders are winning the offseason right now. I love all the signings, but I bet there have been plenty of Eagles and Redskins fans in years past who loved their signings too. Still, if Eric Weddle ends up in Silver & Black, watch out.

"winning the offseason" has to be couched in terms of still being stuck in Oakland though. I don't think there's much the team can do that's gonna make that situation suck any less for pretty much everyone involved.
But hey, at least they didn't get stuck having to trade for Mark Sanchez. On the plus side the Broncos retained Anderson, who I'm glad to see stick around (and not go to Miami).

Well the unsettled stadium situation didn't deter FA from signing this year. The direction of the franchise has proven a much bigger factor in the decisions of marquee free agents. They were ready to pay anything for Suh last year but he wasn't interested in the least. Plus, they'll definitely end up somewhere in CA, and their strong history/ fan base in southern California means they'll be fine wherever they end up. Now Oakland has another year to work something out with the Raiders. If they can't, I'm sure they'll end up in LA or something.

Pretty happy to see the Mark Sanchez era get started in Denver.

I'm rooting for a team to end up in Vegas, whether it's the Chargers, Raiders or some other team. I think it's probably a terrible idea, but it would be entertaining. Raiders in Vegas would probably be maximum entertainment value.

Everyone has been talking about Sanchez as a backup, but I think there's a decent chance they end up having to start him. The Kaepernick talks don't seem to be making much progress, Fitzpatrick is too expensive and Griffin... Eh. The Broncos found themselves realizing they HAD to keep Anderson, but the frontloaded poison pill intended to keep them away is really going to hamper them for 2016.

Raiders owner Mark Davis says the team "will be the Las Vegas Raiders" if the city comes through.
"We have made a commitment to Las Vegas and that's where it stands," Davis said. "If Las Vegas can come through ... we'll be the Las Vegas Raiders. I have never used a city as a bargaining chip. This is real." There's no ambiguity in Davis' words, suggesting it's more than just a leverage play. Davis says the team is ready to contribute $500 million if the city approves a stadium plan. If it's not already too late, it's beginning to look like now-or-never for the city of Oakland.

I'm starting the campaign now...let's just all call them the Las Vaders!

Also - when your biggest negotiating chip is:
"Hey, I am the first quarterback to start and win against same opponent (Jacksonville Jaguars) with five different teams", it's time to rethink your long term goals.
