Happy to help. I wasn't enamored with anyone left on the board so I thought it was an easy pick. You can also thank the DBacks for taking Whitley at 14 because that was the other guy I was leaning toward.Twins wrote:I'd like to publicly thank you, Jared, for sparing me the potential agony of mulling over Aiken.
First thought: This draft is one of the slowest I can remember. Good thing I don't have a single pick
Second thought: Don't love the fact that JP ended up with Maeda (and to a lesser extent Park), but I still can't figure out why Bren didn't take Maeda at 5. Seems like his offense is basically set and could have used another very good simming SP for 2016...

Draft is going slow, but doesn't seem any slower than any previous years.. I could be wrong though.Yankees wrote:First thought: This draft is one of the slowest I can remember. Good thing I don't have a single pick

Bren taking Benintendi was as predictable as the sun coming up. But I agree, Maeda would have made more sense, I think, given how close he appears on paper outside of the pitching.
And Whitley was one of the other OFs I was considering with my back to back picks.. Tools are outstanding, but the results so far scared me off...

I reached a little for McMahon in that draft taking him in the 1st (#25).Cardinals wrote:A few years ago I really wanted Ryan McMahon and thought he would fall to my 2nd round pick so I didn't trade up to get him. So I wasn't risking that happening again

Scouts seem pretty sold on Maeda as a 4/5. He brings value as an immediate contributor, but 4/5 starters aren't exactly the rarest of commodities. Benintendi on the other hand represents a higher pure value, more risk, but significantly more potential reward, and at a position that's probably my weakest offensively. Being a Sox prospect was probably the biggest mark against him, I've been trying to make a point of avoiding Sox players and prospects.

Almost took Stephenson, Fox or Alvarez @ 19 before I took Randolph - so I would just assume that everyone has similar lists. If your pick is 4 away - you need to have 5 in the queue.
