How did the Mets get him? He was due to come off waivers at 12:15 PM. I logged on and put in a claim at 12:13 PM. When I logged out at 12:30 the waiver claim hadn't been processed yet, nor had Banda 12:13 or Mader 12:29 cleared waivers. When I last checked, I was the only one with a claim at 12:25.

Is the site on Pacific time (didn't someone mention that?)
It states in the bottom right that:
All times are GMT - 5 Hours
But I thought that was England time zone (5 hours ahead of EST)

You should be able to customize the times you see on your profile page. For example the Twins' cuts today show as 6:05 and 6:07 for me. They should come off waivers at 6:05 and 6:07 tomorrow morning my time.
The weird part of the Jones claim is the time listed on waivers was 12:15. The Mets claim process says 12:37 in the transactions. I could understand it being off by different hour blocks of GMT, but how in heck was it off 22 minutes? That's not a time zone thing.

Shawn can correct me on this, but I think they're sort of a weird flux until somebody clicks the waivers page.RedSox wrote:You should be able to customize the times you see on your profile page. Correct, when anyone loads the waivers page, it will process any players whose waivers have expired since the last person loaded the waivers page.Pirates wrote:Shawn can correct me on this, but I think they're sort of a weird flux until somebody clicks the waivers page.RedSox wrote:You should be able to customize the times you see on your profile page. Sorry if I'm missing something, but I'm confused by all of this. In my settings, my time zone is set to GMT -5, which is eastern time, where I live. But when I go to the waivers page, it looks like it's on pacific time.
I've changed the settings to eastern time twice to be sure, and it doesn't change what I see at the top of the waivers page. It's 4:10 here, the waivers page says it's 1:10.
How can I sync this up? I don't remember this being an issue before, when I've claimed players in the past.

Is it that the site is registering a waiver period consistent with the time zone of the person who dropped the player? For instance, while most of the league's setting is Eastern, if a player is dropped on West Coast, Mountain or Central, the waivers page recognizes that time to start the 24-hour clock and reflects that time zone on the website instead of the setting each person has chosen?
Yeah...I thought that at first, but that doesn't make sense given the timeline of your claim on Marquez. If Jim dropped him at 3:44 a.m. on Jan. 2, and your claim was processed at 5:36 a.m on Jan. 3, that means he was on the waiver for for 25 hours and 52 minutes...a very random period of time. And since you're both on eastern time, he would have dropped him in the same time zone as you picked him up.Tigers wrote:Is it that the site is registering a waiver period consistent with the time zone of the person who dropped the player? The question (and concern) is--as has been posted above--if someone could have come in during the extra 1:52:00 that he was on the wire, after it should have expired, and taken him out from under you.
Doesn't seem to be a timezone issue. But I don't know what the issue is, other than that there seems to be some degree of randomness as to when a player actually comes off waivers.

I noticed this on the Marquez waiver claim as well since I went in to check on him a few times thinking I might re-sign him. In the end it is a non-issue for me personally as Pat could have claimed or signed him before I took action but I did think it was strange that the waiver period lasted more then 24 hours ...Indians wrote:Yeah...I thought that at first, but that doesn't make sense given the timeline of your claim on Marquez. Hypothetically, if a team with a lower priority put in a claim right now, would Kivlehan still go to Danny? I think that's the question on the waivers clock. Is 3:33 still this time (as it was for Jones), that is the deadline? Not trying to beat a dead horse here, just curious...Pirates wrote:It's always a 24-hour clock, regardless of time zone.
If a player is processed later, it's because the waiver page hasn't refreshed yet.

Kivlehan was released at 3:33 and then claimed at 3:39 pacific / 6:33, 6:39 eastern. It would be impossible to put a claim in at 6:34 eastern, since you'd have to load the waiver page to do so, which then refreshes the page.
The transaction is then processed, but with the time stamp of whenever the page was refreshed, in this case, 6:39.
